This reminded me a bit to Saint Dober and Juliet Cat. Although they're not as awfully made as bomber cat and Razor back, for most players Juliet The Maiko it's essentially a "Saint Dober Slave". I think one thing you should have mentioned, is how is a new player who never goes online supposed to figure out how to get bombercat? Not everyone sits there and spams the slider thingy a billion times, so getting base form is already really unlikely. And then you have to refresh the event stage page at the specific time of day, on a specific day, which as you mentioned is often on a school day. So your only real counter for an op enemy is an Easter egg unit..

Well Lucas let me tell you that not all hope is lost. With the recent addition of foundations being able to reduce a specific trait's dmg alongside talent orbs we can reduce razorback's dmg output to the point where we might be able to comfortably fight razorback without status! I can already see it the Lucas video on how to use desmos to calculate the final dmg reductions from foundations and talent orbs. The future is looking bright!

Honestly if courier Cat was the exact same as it is now, but didn't have behemoth slayer and didn't target red I think he would be a really fun and interesting rusher. Also manic eraser is in 99% of everybody's lineups and nobody complains about it (or even notices it). At this point I think manic eraser is the one true constant and everybody has simply accepted his dominance. Easily the best unit.

the thing is with razorback too is that if your pizza is strong enough you can kind of brute force his first knockback but then he strengthens so its basically imposssible. another kinda similiar case to me is iguanidae (relic lizard) where it basically forces you to bring one of the three units in the game (Dogu, Naala, Luza) that can actually do anything to it. its not nearly as bad as bomber/razorback because theres three options and its mega late game, but it still makes me kinda hate that enemy

I don’t have bomber cat still and I’m still desperately waiting for the second month of the twenty second day at 2:22 pm to obtain the true form of flower cat. I’m so done using slow up combo and sniper the heavy and other slowing units to deal with razorbacks. Stages like Lucas mentioned like, The Holy Exploit or my personally hated stages in Uncanny Legends involving Razorbacks like, Cats in the Stars and Tropical Garden really grind my gears.

I think it’s also worth mentioning talented pizza cat since he gets slow talents. Sure it isn’t that great against blacks because of their high kb count and pizza’s high damage but at the same time razorback has low kb and high health. The slow uptime may be kinda poor but at the same time you can usually get a few of them stacked up if Razorback spawns on base hit (The Holy Exploit, Pyroclastic Flow, Beachhead invasion). And even if the slow doesn’t proc a lot your still using pizza at the end of the day which will still quickly burst down Razorback.

0:50 i figured this out, at least a bit. Here is the story: My phone screen is bad, so after a bit i decided to switch to an autoclicker that will swipe it for me. I set it up, go to eat, and when i return, i still got nothing! So, i reset it, switch to a slightly higher speed (it was a swipe every 300 ms, and i changed it to 200 ms), and got it in a minute. My takeaway is that you need to consistently swipe at a certain pace, for some time, otherwise it will never give you a cat.

I just reliesed why *that* uber is in the game. If you don't use the website to strategize then the info you have in game is not enough to do proper deck building, thus making *that* uber the only notable option to beat certain stages without careful decision making. In turn, the amount of research needed to be done out of battle cats makes it just be the go-to when wanting to win.

I honestly believe that all the things you complained about are actually the reasons why bombercat and razorback are designed so well. I’ve always believed that in games like BC good design isn’t dependant on balance but on uniqueness, there are hundreds of cats and enemies so adding something new is only as valuable as it is unique. That makes the relationship between the unstoppable pusher razorback and the otherwise worthless cat that perfectly counters it bombercat unique. It makes it so that all stages where razorback appears transform, changing the objective to keeping you incredibly frail stack of debuggers alive, because if they die, razorback pushes and you die. The biggest issue is that ponos needs to find / make more interesting enemies to pair it with. Imagine a stage where the goal is to use wave / ld attacks to continually kb an enemy like the dogelord so he can never attack. They’d probably need to add a regular enemy variant of him for it to wrk but the idea is still there.

I disagree with you that Bombercat and Razorback is a "bad" dynamic. That would be the case if you just focus on the interactivity of their matchup but I would say that isn't the case here. I would say the the with Razorback, the challenge isn't to beat him but the fact that you have to include Bomber in your lineup. I like that dynamic of providing an alternative challenge than just to beat the actual enemy. I think of it as a gimmick enemy akin to Assassin Bear. Now, Razorback is indeed beatable by other units so it's not nearly as restrictive as Assassin Bear. The issue I agree with, however, is that they haven't been able to make a cool challenge out of this dynamic yet. However, I like that they always have an option to make good use of this different kind of challenge.
