The MOST VERSATILE Impact Wrench | New Tool Tuesday

The good old fashion method of removing a nut or bolt with a breaker bar stills works, however it runs the possibility of snapping a bolt as it will be under constant stress, unlike how an impact wrench works. An impact wrench gives small shocks / bursts to the bolt to jolt it and break it free, without causing any damage.
For the past 50 years, we’ve been stuck with using pneumatic variants of tools as that was the only way to go. Since battery technology has improved drastically in the past decade or so, pneumatic tools are now a thing of the past. Cordless tools are portable, much quieter, and typically product a lot more torque given the size of the tool.

The DCF899 1/2” Impact Wrench is an incredibly strong machine that is able to remove ANY nut or bolt found on a car. If the bolt doesn’t want to come out with this gun, its either welded to the car, or you’re using the tool incorrectly. With that being said, it is a rather bulky tool and weight more than twice as much as my smaller DCF894 1/2” Impact Wrench. I truly love them both, as they cannot replace each other. The larger 899 has no problem removing bolts, however is WAYYY overkill for just removing lug nuts. The 894 can remove lug nuts without a problem, and so much more.
NOTE Be sure to use impact grade sockets while using impact tools so you don’t run the risk of breaking the sockets. These tools are seriously strong, and won’t have any problem stripping the socket if it is a chrome socket that is intended for hand tools only (aka, a regular ratchet)**
