A presidential speechwriter doesn't agree with what he's asked to write.
Jon Lovett is a screenwriter and speechwriter. Most recently, he was a writer and advisor on the HBO series The Newsroom. He also co-created the NBC comedy 1600 Penn. Prior to entertainment, he was a speech writer for three years to President Obama, helping write the president’s annual remarks to the White House Correspondents Dinner as well as speeches on a range of public policy issues. He served a similar role for then-senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, in her Senate office and on her first presidential campaign. Lovett is currently developing a series for Showtime on the collapse of American politics, which he hopes to finish before it actually happens.
