The thing is that the polls in 2016 were right. Clinton DID beat trump by the margins predicted. But the outcome of the electoral college did not follow the popular vote. Because of our current jacked up system (that should be revised) polls would be more meaningful if they were state by state instead of nationally, since that’s how the president is chosen.

"This was a good night for Joe Biden." He literally had the two biggest cringe moments of the night. His Trump-esque ramble about a record player, and his slip of the tongue referring to Bernie as president. They'd tar and feather most of tonight's candidates for making such gaffs.

If you decide who wins by one or two soundbites, I don't know what to think. Biden commanded the lead of the debate all night, had the most time spoken, and even got the audience to back him and turn on Castro. I felt Warren did really well, and Bernie was his usual self, but Biden has always made gaffes, his whole career is built on them, but he also had some really good answers for some questions like healthcare and defended himself from others really well.
@DivingDog05 жыл бұрын
"you're letting your bias color the debate" How? By pointing out that things Biden got away with other candidates (let's say for example Yang) would not have? I've got nothing going for Yang. But I can recognise when he's been ridiculed and dismissed for less. What's my bias then? Even-handedness? "If you decide who wins by one or two soundbites, I don't know what to think." The gymnast can tumble and flip the whole length of the balance beam, but if they come down on their face once or twice during the routine I'm going to point out that they didn't have 'a good night'. Performance is as much about lows as it is highs. "but Biden has always made gaffes, his whole career is built on them" In politics you've got to take the good with the bad, I agree. The perfect man and thus the perfect candidate doesn't exist. But to suggest Biden's gaff-fu should *not* be factored into his performances, simply because they happen frequently, is a terrible precedent to set.

It's not like the 'winner' of this debate gets some kind of prize. The candidates still need to meet polling and fundraising requirements. I'm happy with either Bernie or Warren. I don't see Biden going the distance. He's already got his surrogates lowering expectations for the Iowa caucus and its early.

Do we _really_ have _any_ prospects for swaying the opinion of the electorate, at this point?

I'd love to see a Sanders/Yang ticket. It would be a landslide.

Hard agree, but they don't have similar platforms at all really.

So, whoever makes the biggest promises? That's how trump won over his minions. Americans have more in common than they care to admit.

Think of polls as a popularity vote by the voters. However, the Electoral College throws a wrench because they determine the next president, not the popular vote.

Jibreel Lomax He probably thought yang and Bernie didn’t have a notable night and weren’t worth mentioning

@@charlier5172 he's third in the polls a simple mention would not be outside the realm of reasonable.

I must've watched a different debate. Biden COMPLETELY tanked! He was confused and seemed woefully unprepared.

If anyone would sink bernie, it's these guys. Endorsers of establishments, support warren. These pod guys wouldn't let go of beto.

That’s not true. Listen to their podcasts. They favor Bernie and Warren. They really aren’t carrying that Beto torch.

The day he was elected I asked why it feels like we are characters of the Wizard of Oz. Watching this now is a rerun of my original thoughts. Creepy!

4:15 Sorry, if I sound like an ass, but I don't give a rats ass about Joe Bidens pain and loss. Personal things like that are not why I'm voting for someone. Policies are. And if I look back at his decades long voting record, I gotta be honest, I don't see much to like
