Thanks for the good video! I could not understand some moments Ed's throw. And here is a man who told me everything and showed me in detail. Little things - different style. I am a subscriber to your channel and always watch your videos with great interest.

Interesting video , it really shows how many ways you can cast and has surely helped me try the different casts with different heads and paying attention to the feel of the rod line combo . It would be nice to have access to more rods and lines to try . I guess I’ll have to find some new friends . Thanks for the video

This is getting better every day Tim, I meet Mike at SoR back in 2006, I witnessed a great demo by him on Skagit heads that change my view over the fly casting in the Surf. How about Simon, he should be behind you by the tv 🤔🙂also, after watching the clip few times, I notes the caster hands position over the rod handle, long heads the top hand is placed far from reel seat, and in short heads the top hand is clouser to reel seat. This looks is important for the new guys out there. Thank you for sharing 👌I’m so excited about the direction your channel is drifting!!👍

Watching good casting is key and I like how you break down the aspects of each caster or type of cast!

Thanks Tim. I don't think I deserve to be mentioned among all the great casters featured in your video. And it's my pleasure that I was of some help to your casting. All the best !

@@LineSpeedJediTimRawlins I would up vote Janusz as our artist-in-residence! He truly brings THAT kind of an artist's touch to the discipline. Very stylish and appealing and certainly one to emulate. And he has this "rock guitarist" stance at the end of his casts that is totally cool!

I always wondered if scandi, and longbelly lines are best with the longer 13+ ft rods. I'm kinda stuck on the 12.5 . Love your approach to all this Tim, well done

Tim, I have watched all of your videos and dozens of others that give detailed instruction and I need a recommendation of what style I should start with. There are no steelhead/salmon in my immediate area so I hedged my bets a purchased an 11.5 foot 6 wt switch rod and Switch-Chucker line to swing intruders for bass in the rivers and cast streamers for pike in the lake - figured that if I could make "spey casting" (pardon if I lump them all together) work I would get a proper 13 foot spey outfit and if not, well, then my Redington Chromer would be light enough for over-hand casting and indicator nymphing. I would appreciate suggestions as to what type/style of casting I should practice so I know that I am at least flailing away in the right direction :-)

The need to cast larger "pike streamers" started me looking for a longer, heavier (10 wt) rod and the spey casting videos I stumbled on to totally seduced me with those beautiful, flowing casts. 90% of my fly fishing is done in streams and small rivers where there is little room fo a back cast - as a result I roll cast a lot and will frequently use a smooth "continuous motion" sweeping cast (something like what Ed Ward shows in his golf-ball demonstration) to load the rod. I have found that the feel and motion of the two-handed spey casts is comfortable and even familiar to me. I was told that the Switch-Chucker line I purchased would be good for casting heavier, bulkier flies (and also indicators) - so I think the question is: would you recommend touch & go or continuous anchor casts with this type of line? Thanks for the reply Tim! Cheers! Hank

Hank, sorry. I answered this and forgot to post it. I suggest a combination of modern modern Scandi and traditional Spey casting, without forgetting the parts of Skagit casting when needed. Do whichever appeals most to you. Even if it means lumping some of the ingredients of each together. Good Casting is good casting. Tailor your casting to match the length of line and payload you are casting. Great question...I will try to make a video or two with that in mind
