As a triumph scrambler 1200xc owner, this is the 400 scrambler i had in my head when it was anounced that they were coming out with one a couple years ago. When both 400's dropped i was like , ok, i understand, but.

The svartpilen 801 is, without a doubt, a beautiful motorcycle. The problem is when we compare with the 401 (old) and 701 models… which for me are some of the most beautiful motorcycles out there. But this design was one of extremes, we either loved it or hated it. The new models are not extreme, but they lose their appeal for lovers.

That Scrambler looks ace. Tim's right about the mudguards though, some chunkier 70's style mudguards would finish the bike a treat.

The Scout 101 is my pick, looks fantastic. I have traction control on my Pan Am, the only place I've found it useful is dirt roads, as the bike has bags of power off road. I find TCS annoying in the wet because it tries to reduce throttle when I'm taking off from the lights, and if the back wheel spins I can just close the throttle slightly, then I've been riding for 50 years without TCS.

23:40 It's always been the way MV Agusta released new models. First, they bring out the Serie Oro editon usually limited to 500 units , followed by the standard production model, followed by more limited edition models. They are usually the RC - Reparto Corsa celebrating the race team, celebrating various anniversaries, People - Giacomo Agostini, markets - America , race tracks - Nurburgring and Assen etc. LXP Orioli in essence is the serie oro model of the enduro veloce model. Orioli is in tribute to the rally rider Edi Orioli.

Rob, I hope you’re scratching the custom itch cause you’ve really got an eye for detail. I completely agreed with your breakdown of the 401 Husky vs the 801. I loved the look of the Custom Triumph Scrambler 400, my immediate reaction was I want one but seconds later realised that although I’d love a Scrambler, it’s a Scrambler I’d like and that was far too pretty to Scramble on.

Nice chat. I bought a GSX8R over the 8S because of the fairing ultimately. It's more versatile & looks better imo. I also heard the 8R was on course to outsell the 8S & V-Stroms. Have to respectfully disagree thst the 8S & Hornet look the same. They do not at all! The Hornet is a good bike but it couldn't be more beige vanilla if it tried. It's also cheap feeling & looking compared to the 8S & it's only about £300 cheaper now if you want like for like. Although, you can't argue that it has more bang for buck than the Suzuki with 8bhp more & 12kg less but Suzuki's extra torque more than compensates. Supposedly the Hornet hasn't been released in the US due to noise regs which has also held up releasing the CBR750 variant too.

Interesting that the MT07 is still a top seller in the UK (no Hornets left?). I was considering a MT07 in 2022 but supply was very limited and OTD prices were much higher than now in spite of the then lower retail. I picked up a GSX 8S (that I'm very happy with) at the end of last year and have been surprised that they have been discounted pretty much since introduction (currently $2,000 off). Here in the US (Arizona) most dealers have a few 8S and 8R Suzuki's but a large supply of MT07's even though there is no Hornet here to compete with so I'm assuming MT07 sales aren't that great here. IMO the new Husqvarna 401's and 801 look much better than their previous models. Instrumentation, elongated fuel tank, and rear fender treatment look more balanced to me and though I don't care for the exhaust/muffler as much it's easily fixable with a slip-on. Interesting that 401's are a good deal cheaper than the Duke 390 yet the Husqvarna 801 is much more expensive than a Duke 790 (?).

You were doing so well with the safety advantages of TC, especially at low speeds. Then, you ruined it by saying that you 'probably' don't need it as you're experienced now. That is such an old trope and totally fallacious. You may be a better rider but your reaction times won't have improved. TC will get there 1000x quicker and hunt for any available grip. You would be a passenger for the first, crucial, second or 2. Influencers' blight, imo. Still, like the vid, like the format; your mate is sensible.....please continue. Ta
