Dan... listening to you present this bike made me feel like I was watching a review from Top Gear or Grand Tour. I genuinely felt sad for a moment when you mentioned that last bit about trying to remember the bike, because I realized that someone is actually capable of replicating the greatness of Jeremy Clarkson, James May, and Richard Hammond. All you need is some friends and a penchant for witty banter...

That line “if I can remember it” really drove home to where it feels like your riding on an imitation rather than the real thing. Kinda interesting the way you put it. And when I’m personally looking for a bike that’s a real feeling. Like am I buying it because I like it or am I buying it for the image or the imitation of others.
@Johnny-tq9no5 жыл бұрын
I've only rode an Indian, m109r, a Harley sporterster and I own a sport/naked bike and the Indian was by far the best riding bike..it felt confident in the corners shifted much smoother, was quick and didn't feel like a giant pig... It's really the best riding cruiser and the closest felling to a sport tourer it's just not as raw as a Harley
@joshevans67985 жыл бұрын
Johnny I wasnt saying it’s a bad bike or anything I personally haven’t rode on an Indian so I wouldn’t know. My comment was more towards Dans comment (as quoted above) and how it spoke a bigger meaning to me and apparently others. I just think some riders are more about the image of being a rider versus just being themselves and picking a bike that really appeals to them. It happens with all forms of riders too it’s not a cruiser and sport bike thing. Like with me I’m looking at a 94 magna. Not because of dan rides one but it was the first bike I ever got to ride on the road and it has a sentimental value to me. All I’m saying is people should be themselves rather following into a group
@Aaaaa699995 жыл бұрын
Problem is your essentially buying a Japanese cruiser through its ride, look and feel for more than double the price. That’s why Indians don’t sell well

Gonna be dead honest, I own a scout and I do love it more than any bike I have currently ridden. Being a very young man who has worked my butt off in order to buy it, I am proud to own it and I have already made very nice memories on the bike while riding with my brother (who i credit for getting me into riding) and friends. I want to say that your review was very relatable in a couple ways except one which ill mention in a bit. The scout itself is everything you said it was: Fun, Fast, Agile, Beautiful. Where ever I got I get so many compliments for my bike. Ive put my brother in his place racing him on his FZ07 after he thought that it was a “slow” cruiser. He had trouble catching up and popped a wheelie doing so. The bike is wonderful and reliable. I don’t have to worry about constantly readjusting things here and there like I did with my 94 Honda Magna (which wasn’t taken care of very well before I had it, so that may have something to do with it. I can also say for sure that I WILL remember my magna because it still was a fun bike and it was my very first.) It is a sound bike. The one thing that I cannot say for sure is if I will “remember it.” Right now its the only thing I think about, but I cannot say anything more because I haven’t had a moment where I was away from it. I do want to remember it though, because it is a milestone for me. But also I think it has to do with my love for riding, since I had a serious low in my life and riding (and my older brother) quite literally saved my life from my own hand. I understand the whole “artificial” aspect that you get from the bike, and I do agree with you on that even though I did feel a bit upset when you mentioned it. But with that, I must say that maybe for me it has to do with my experience with riding, how it revolves around how I got there and how it saved me, who I go with, how many miles I have spent on the bike, and also how I personalize my bike (10 inch apes are amazing btw). I feel like I do have a connection with the machine. It is certainly my current pride and joy. It is my babe. So yes I am very biased, lol. The fact that I felt like I needed to comment with this whole story even bothers me (though it is certainly therapeutic in a weird way). Over all, I love this video. You are so honest with the review, and I can back you up for 95% (giving just cause nothing is completely perfect in life and my personal bias) of it, though this grade will not count for your over all semester grade. You are humorous with it and it was so enjoyable to watch. I also accept that we are all different people, we get different experiences from what we ride which is sort of a beautiful thing in a weird way. I think its why this video seemed so good to me because it is so interesting to hear it from another person’s point of view. It is just so understandable. I love your content, I enjoy your energy and I hope to see you do more cool shit and see how much fun you have while doing it. I hope that this comment doesn’t come out as mean or attacking in any way because I only mean everything in a wholesome and good way. It would also surprise me if you got this far and if youtube lets me post this many characters. Please take care! Keep having fun! You are doing so good!

I've only road that and M109R and sport bikes/sport touring bikes and the Indian made me feel like I was on a comfy sport touring bike... It's shifted so smooth was pretty quick and felt like my sport touring bike in the corners except the pegs drag lol. The M109R was a beat but it felt like a heavy pig and wasn't nearly as comfortable in the turns and very slow clunky shifts ....it also will do rolling burnouts which is scary with something that big

I own a 2016 Indian scout with 11,000 miles on it so far and it’s been nothing but reliable. You can fix Engine sound by throwing some Vance and Hines pipes on it and yeah the suspension does leave a little to be desired. But the suspension was fixed in the later model scouts. It’s a great bike all around.

I remember watching Harley riders protesting Harley Davidsons being made overseas. And more then a few riders saying that if Harleys are no longer made in the USA they would buy Indian motorcycles. If Harley Davidson moves production overseas entirely then Indian could see a surge in business from people wanting an American made motorcycle, regardless of the brand.

It’s definitely going to wear your butt out after an hour or 2, but it’s infinitely more comfortable for around town shredding than a sport bike (I also have an r1). As far as a reliability, I’ve had a bad coolant gasket and an unexplained battery death in the first 4000 miles. Not ideal, but I still love the bike. Going to bob it next year.

And the ftr1200 is insanely cool (review it next please). The revamp didn't change much in riding feel or power band. Changes were primarily in the looks of the bobber. I have a 16 scout and a friend has a 19 bobber. Both feel the same with the bobber feeling like it has slightly less rear travel and a harder seat. (Mustang seat for bobber does wonders though). They are all around great bikes and with a few bolt ons and the pv3; the bike has some real pep for a little cruiser.

Here's what you seem to be saying; it's an appliance. It's a good bike, it does what it's meant to do, it does it well, it's good looking, it's efficient and it's reasonably powerful. But it lacks a soul, it lacks personality. There's nothing there to say, "wow, that was fucking awesome". It's more like, "wow, that was pretty cool...." as you eyeball something sexier, something that provokes rather than coddles. It's fine, and fine works for some people. But for some of us, _fine_ is the antithesis of the riding experience. Great presentation Dan.
@mikesanchezgsxr5 жыл бұрын
I think doing an air filter (like a K&N), exhaust and fuel management system on the Scout very much will increase the ride experience for the scout. You don't get the shakey feeling you get with the Harley but if you get some volume and that little extra kick from having the engine breathe a little better it'll stick in your head more so you don't h1et that "if I can rememner it" type experience. I think that's what's missing from the Scout.
