I think the Mount Rushmore is pretty easy. Jay-Z: All around greatest. Great rapper, great business man, versatile, transcended hip-hop more so than any other artist. Biggie: The greatest RAPPER of all time. 2 for 2 on classic albums, would be in Jay's position had he not been killed. Tupac: Most iconic, most influential figure in hip-hop history. Forever the king of the west. Kanye West: Undeniable influence and impact, has had a near flawless run. Has the most well put together albums of any hip-hop artist ever as well as the most diverse catalog. When you throw in his production credentials, 21 grammy awards, and fashion influence he, like Jay, has transcended the genre and can do anything. Others you could throw in, Eminem, KRS, Ice Cube, Nas, Rakim

1. Nas...He is the reason I begun to dig into hip hop. Learning about Rakim, Melle Mel, etc. Anytime I hear most of his tracks, I instantly stop what I'm doing. 2. Lupe Fiasco...The king of metaphors. 3. Lauryn Hill...Most people sleep on her lyricism but after hearing "How Many Mics," or lyrics like, "I'll be Nina Simone, defecating on your microphone," she is not only my favorite female MC but one of my favorites of all time. 4. Scarface...Growing up, not too many people talked about southern rappers, outside of the braggadocious lane. My mind was instantly opened hearing the lyrics, which led me to artists like Outkast and Big K.R.I.T. In a few years Kendrick Lamar and Big K.R.I.T will probably get consideration.

Well, first off, look at who is on the real Mount Rushmore, and why those Presidents are on there. It doesn't necessarily mean they're the greatest Presidents of all-time, but they are heavily considered to be the Fore-Fathers. Now, the title of this video is called The Mount Rushmore of Hip Hop and not the Mount Rushmore of Rap. So, with that said, the Hip Hop equivalent of Mount Rushmore would have to be: DJ Kool Herc - Heavily considered to be the creator of Hip Hop Afrika Bambaataa - One of the originators that coined the the term "Hip Hop" and it's elements Rakim - A pioneer and revolutionized the evolution of rhyme skills, rhyme schemes, and lyricism. 2Pac - Even though he is the most modern of the previous names mentioned, he is easily the most influential Rapper/Emcee of all-time. My Hip Hop Mount Rushmore is DJ Kool Herc, Afrika Bambaataa, Rakim, and 2Pac.

Hahahaha wack list bro! Rakim is the only valid dude in that. Rakim - Started real hip hop rhyming- the sound/rhymes/flows that we have started from Rakim. Before Rakim Rap was single syllabic format. Dr Dre- the most important figure in hip hop history! Imagine Dre never existed? No icecube, eazy e, snoop, Eminem?? Death row, Aftermath etc Jay Z- Longevity and impact, business acumen, brought in Kanye West, Roc a fella Lil Wayne- most influential rapper of this generation. Every artist now is a clone of this guy. There's your Rushmore. Take 4 of these people out of hip hop history.. Rap would be nowhere near as big or great as it is.

No Dr. Dre? He influenced, helped, and blew up some of the most important rappers oat. he produced for and was a part of NWA, arguably the most influental gangsta rap group, which lead to Eazy-E and Ice Cube who both have classic albums. Dre featured Snoop Dogg a lot on the chronic and brought him to fame, and now Snoop is one of the most recognizable rappers and did a lot for the west. Dre blew up Eminem, the highest selling rap artist of all time. 50 Cent, one of the most famous rap artists ever, and one of the best gangsta rappers, wouldnt be half as famous as he is/was without Dre and Em. Dre produced Restless for Xzibit, a west coast legend, and exec. prod. the Documentary, a west coast classic by another west coast legend. Not to mention hes one of the greatest producers oat and has two classic albums himself.

Peter Griffin Well if you read the info for the participants in GKMC, it clearly says that Dr Dre executive produced it and he did some of the mixing too. Dre was involved, that's why it sounds the way it sounds, it doesn't sound like Section 80. And I'm not taking anything away from Kendrick because he did have his own fan base as an independent artist, but let's face it, if Dre hadn't signed Kendrick Lamar, there's no way he would be on the radio and he definitely wouldn't be going platinum. Dre is the reason Kendrick is as popular as he is right now.

Sedrick Nah. 2Pac represented what Hip-Hop was all about. Hip-Hop was first created for the minority to speak up and about what they felt. It was a movement. 2Pac had a movement with the "Thug Life" movement. 2Pac was a figure, never before have we had a Hip-Hop artist say the things he said, do the things he did. He's influential. His influence is still seen today with the MCs of today. His concepts back then were revolutionary.., This is the mount rushmore of Hip-Hop, HIP-HOP! It's more than just lyrical skill. It has to stretch than just more than that.

Austin Crozier Pac wasn't trying to make that type of album. The West Coast had their own style. Many people forget sometimes Pac would take 15 mins to record a song, he wasn't trying to perfect his craft. He even admitted that he wasn't the best MC, he goal was always to make some real music that connected with the people. Whereas Nas is known for doing several rewrites and being a perfectionist.

My Mount Rushmore. Tupac-Most Influential MC ever. KRS One-The teacher of Hip-Hop. Rakim-Set the standard for a lyricist. Eminem-Made white Hip-Hop artists taken more seriously.

My Mount Rushmore would have to include: Black Thought - For just being as skilled as he is. Biggie - His ability to tell great stories is unmatched Big Pun - Killed pretty much everything he rapped on Kanye West - He's always been original and creative with his album material, I know he's a dick but The College Dropout and Late Registration, are still some of the best albums ever.

I fully agree with Myke's reasoning for putting Del, and notice how when Myke speaks, nobody interrupts. Anyways, mine would be: -Biggie -Pac -Eminem -Cross between Andre 3000, KRS-One, Kanye West, and Nas But if it was a personal top 4, it would definitely be: -Kanye West -Kendrick Lamar -Biggie -Redman

In terms of the actual MOUNT RUSHMORE of hip hop, the monument to the most instrumental presidents, (the founding fathers and most vital early minds) I feel like saying Rakim, Kool G Rap, Big Daddy Kane, and Slick Rick would be unassailable.

After probably too much thought I'd go more with an influence list over a favorite list with Rakim, Dr. Dre because of how many people he put on and his production work, Jam Master Jay because of Run DMC's influence on moving hip-hop beyond party records with disco/soul/R&B samples and Chuck D.

mine would not be based on who I like, mine would be based on who has influenced hip hop in the biggest way: -Tupac this dude is one of my faves ever, plus had the biggest impact outside of hip hop, and had an important message -Notorious B.I.G. lyrically was doing stuff unheard of, and is the persons name I hear the most when I hear who is the greatest of all time -Rakim a pioneer, is the biggest influence to rappers who are considered all time greats, without him, hip hop wouldnt be what it is today -Dr Dre probably the most important single guy in hip hop, introduced us two dudes who have hugely impacted the landscape, he changed hip hop in multiple eras
@MrVIP1993

Yes thank you! I thought I was the only one who said Dr Dre. He's definitely one of the most important people in the game. Also who are the 2 dudes you are talking about that he introduced? Snoop and Em? or 50? Ice Cube?
@azc29103

So I feel what Myke wanted to say. Really nice video and I'm sure there will be A LOT of mad people here lol

Biggie because he perfected gangsta rap and made arguably the best rap album ever (Ready to Die), 2Pac because he is muthafuckin' 2Pac, Eminem because he pushed the boundaries of hip-hop subject matter above and beyond what people thought possible, and Kendrick Lamar for being the ultimate story teller, having one of the greatest flows ever and (like Biggie) making an absolute classic with GKMC. These are the four greatest rappers ever.

Rakim, KRS-One, Big Daddy Kane, and Masta Ace. Rakim is the GOAT, in my opinion. KRS-One gave Hip-Hop more credibility than anyone, and he has a few classics under his belt. Big Daddy Kane was the progenitor of quick-flowed rapping. One of the best and most influential. Masta Ace made the perfect transition from old-school (Take A Look Around, Slaughtahouse, and Sittin' On Chrome) to underground (Disposable Arts and A Long Hot Summer, his two best albums) and he never dipped in quality. He actually got better, the further he went along. Maybe a bit of a wild card, but I think Ace more than earned his stripes, and his discography is the best of anyone's on here.

It should be about hip hop in general, not your personal opinion. The real Mount Rushmore isn't in play-doh, it's in stone. Jigga Biggie Eminem 2Pac Whether or not you listen to them they are the most influential and impactful in hip hop history to date. They are hip hop history. Immortalized if you will.

Peter Griffin Yea bro Nas is a legend, but Em sold way more, has way more influence as he was one of the pioneers to really bring mainstream white people to enjoying real rap, not just poppy "What my name is" cuts either. Dude really told his story on his first few albums and never sold out really to this date.
