"The Movies" - 1979

It was once common for television stations, particularly independents, to broadcast Hollywood motion pictures as part of their regular schedules. Often, these movie presentations were opened and closed with specially-made animation and music. "The Movies" is a package of animation and music that was syndicated to local stations during the late 1970s through 1980s by a company named Klein&. A few excerpts appear in this sequence. The audio quality is marginal in places because the source material has deteriorated.

I remember seeing the opening animation on Channel 12 in Cincinnati. Unfortunately, I quickly learned that whatever movie came on after that opening animation usually wasn't worth watching.

I think there was an animation involving a police car and two guys fighting. I remember these came on late after the 10:00 news.

This would come late night on KPIX Channel 5 In San Francisco Bay Area back in the 80's owned by Group W.

I don't remember this as a child growing up, I only remember the big MOVIE letter 3-D open Channel 3 used for rest of 80's even into the 90's. It's obvious in my name what year I was born.

These were used by KXTL-40, Sacramento-Stockton, for their movie library.

WBZ Boston is where. These animation packages to my best knowledge were exclusively for at time Westinghouse stations like WBZ 4 Boston.
