I think the music is to help break the copyright issue. You can just fast forward through. Personally, I’m just grateful it’s free to listen to and there wasn’t a single advert.

Lovely rendering of this story by Joan Hickson. My favourite Miss Marple.

I’m not British and I find Joan Hickson’s enunciation very very difficult to understand whereas I don’t find Hugh Fraser or Amelia Fox (other Christie narrators) difficult. Hickson seems to intentionally slur words together.

That’s just the way she speaks, but she was an old lady when narrating.

She speaks proper English our language. Not the modern rubbish taught these days

What's with the music that starts at 1:04:31?

A lot of these books have music appear from nowhere. Weird

Oh dear, yet another lovely old classic British novel ruined by totally inappropriate music. Please stop putting horrible music in the middle. A gentle soft piece of music would be OK, but it must be quiet and not too fast. I won’t be coming back, because I need to use these stories to sleep, and have them on repeat all night. Horrible music wakes me up with a shock.😢

You silly sausage they put free music within the audiobook so they don't get taken down for copy write. It's a shame you can't be grateful when the thing doesn't cost you a penny.

@ Well thank you so much for your helpful advice. I have always known why there is music in the middle of some audiobooks, and I don’t have a problem with that. It’s the choice of music that’s a problem for lots of us who live alone, disabled and housebound. We use these books to listen to while we rest or sleep. Pumped up dance music and screechy singing doesn’t sit well in the middle of a wonderful Agatha Christie novel - it’s just inappropriate. There are loads of people who upload stories for us to listen to, and I listen to one or two every day. I listen with deep gratitude for the time people spend doing this, and they earn a little from each listening too. But I always let people know if the choice of music is wrong. Nine times out of ten, they come back to me with a word of thanks and say they will choose different music to suit their audience. This is how the free world works - we can just politely express our choice and the other person can accept or decline. If I don’t listen to any more stories from a particular channel, they may not know why. And each time I ask someone to put different music on, I get loads of likes and positive comments that agree with me, so that’s helpful for the person who uploads too. x

@@rbrown6476 Do you know the channel Magpie Audio? It's an excellent British voice actor who records great books that are out of copyright, so he doesn't have to use any music at all. Also, he intentionally puts ads only at the beginning, so there are no interruptions. I know he has a lot of listeners with insomnia and cancer. Intriguing stories, but also great to fall asleep to 🙂
