My family is from Boyacá originally. I’m very proud of it and thank you for putting this out. Many Colombians get sick of a negative identity when in reality we’re very rich in culture, just most have no idea. I was recently there and miss it greatly.

Thank you so much! I’m doing a end of semester project for a college Spanish 2 class, my group chose Colombia to speak about, and I have the section about pre colonial history. This helps immensely

I was fascinated with this history, which is very close of what we learnt at the school when we were kids. I remember that teachers tought a subject called "Historia Patria" with pasion and we loved it a lot. I still remember most of what I learned, and of course, I am colombian lady, proud to have the Muisca inheritage. Thank you so much for your excellent history 🤗

Small clarification, indigenous "Bacatá", actually Muyquytá, was located in modern day Funza, even today, outside the city of Santafé de Bogotá, which was founded from scratch by Gonzalo Jiménez de Quesada in what is now the city's downtown.

"Guaches" used to me warrior in muisca language, but, there was an intention from the colonizers to degraded the culture so now "guache" means rude, disrespectful, uncivil.
