If you're curious about what he's welding on the cylinder head, it's the individual exhaust rocker stands to the one-piece intake rocker stand. This adds rigidity to the rockers.

Not all heroes wear capes, some comment the exact information people look for on videos. Thanks my guy/gal, saved me the wait time of asking and possibly getting an answer.
@ionstorm662 жыл бұрын
Also the reason why they are separate, then welded, it to get the roller to hit dead center on the valve. If you notice he installs the rockers and runs it once, then pulls off the rockers and shows the contact of the roller on the valve. Then makes an adjustment to the height of the rocker stand. The shorter rocker stand will bring the roller tip further away from the stand. You want the roller tip dead center on the valve, as it lowers the chance of bending the valve. On a stock or even modded car, that isn't really a major issue, but on an engine like then you could have 1000+ pounds of spring force PER valve. Due to difference sizes of exhaust vs intake valves, the seat could be deeper/shallower and move the contact point. So the stands come separate to adjust them independently. Down side is this will change if the valve seats are changed, or you use a difference valve, but a set of stands on a head service isn't nothing for an engine like this cost wise. There's $400+ in valve springs alone in each head.
@spmotorsportsmachine56452 жыл бұрын
@@ionstorm66 just to add onto your point which is 100% correct, wrong tip to valve stem scrub will cause side loading of the valve and wipe guides also.

@totensiebush2 жыл бұрын
I was wondering the exact same thing. If I'm pulling something out of my ass I'd say that maybe the shaft mount rocker setup is set up to fit a (small) variety of mount locations, and you can get more rigidity/consistency if you weld it up after assembling it to your head. But that's just making up the only thing I can think of that's plausible, it's probably wrong.
