Hilariously, the only reason I think Imhotep didn't pay attention to Benny invoking on Catholicism, Islam, and Buddhism, all at the same time before Judaism was because all 3 of those wouldn't have existed at the time of ancient Egypt, so he didn't recognize any of them.

He says: "I can use you (female version of you), and the rewards will be great". Funny thing is that Imhotep's Hebrew was a little off (either the fault of the director, or made purposeful since Imhotep perhaps was rusty with the language or maybe he was calling Benny his bitch). It's hard to hear, but he later angerly says "Was the other holies?!"
@Xylarxcode2 жыл бұрын
He could just not be fluent in that language. If the slaves of his time spoke a different language than he did, he might be able to understand and speak it, but not be fluent in it so little mistakes creep in here and there. A man of his high station would probably avoid speaking the language of a lowly slave as much as he can, so it'd make sense that he wouldn't be fluent in it.
@EE-md2lr Жыл бұрын
Much of it comes from his station; since he is a high priest of a major god, he would have to understand who's talking to him to give blessings or daily prayer. But it also shows that much of his fluency comes from only a business standpoint of making the masses happy so they wouldn't try to revolt rather than him caring or wanting to learn so he wouldn't talk like an old friend.

It’s not like Benny would have known about him prior to his awakening. He probably called Imhotep “prince” out of flattery since Benny was promised gold for siding with him.

for more than two decades at this point i thought actor playing beni, kevin j o’connor (never looked him up, my bad in retrospect i guess), was a middleeastern guy. then just the other day i stumbled upon ‘lord of illusions’ which was filmed just three years before mummy. i start watching the movie and i see kevin and im like… naaaaah, is that beni? cant be, hes a middleeastern dude! quickly, imdb. HOLY! IT IS BENI!!!! great transformation, great accent, one of my all time favorite movie characters (mummy has more than one). ‘your strength gives me strenght’, at the beginning of the movie, is a great quote. long. live. beni. (and omid djalilli as gad - ‘apparently, he had a very good time’.).
