This movie was just an all around great piece of cinematic work -- suspenseful with just the right amount of action, funny, scary, well acted (I seriously love the chemistry between Brendon Fraser and Rachel Weisz) and dramatic at the right times it needed to be. They don't make films like this anymore and it's truly sad!

@@jacksypher3403 exactly. Well said. And I think a lot of it has to do in the cancel culture we currently live in, where political correctness has been unnecessarily heightened to extreme levels. Not saying there was really anything offensive with The Mummy, but it really does seem like screenwriters are walking on eggshells while attempting to write anything anymore. For example, could you imagine the backlash for a movie like Airplane! if it were made in 2022?

The Israelites had been in Egypt for generations, but now that they had become so numerous, the Pharaoh feared their presence. He feared that one day the Isrealites would turn against the Egyptians. I didn’t even like Citizen Kane. A reporter searching for an answer to a simple question, asking several acquaintances of the man they were doing a story of, learning more about him then necessary, leading to his eventual passing, and not even finding out what the true answer until the end of the movie, but no one in the movie even found out. In my opinion, I didn’t like it just because it was too dramatic.

That's like saying the complete mathimatical forms ("written out") of Einsteins field equations are just a dumb bunch of squiggely lines and you don't like it, the r's are written too sharply for you taste. But hey it is what it is, I don't blame you, in the age of michael bay makign top selling movies ever fewer people even are able to and retain the knowledge to interpret and dissect symbolism, screenwriting, tropes etc.pp. Or even have the willingness to look beyond the surface level of a piece of art. You could lay a true gem infront of their eyes and they would think it's just some dumb lines on a screen, instead of for example an expression of the geometry of spacetime, matter distribution etc. Even though I may not value your opinion higher than a heroin addicts recommendation of heroin, I hope you have a good one, dear reader.

@@blackmantis3130 The Jews in Hollywood not only do they love to make such an unclaimed history meaningful with such sorrow and pride but most of the gullible people still actually think these there were people called Jews and they were slaves in the time of the Pharaohs. The letter ‘J’ yes the non existent Jesus and Jehova, might be a tough cookie this one, but it is the NEWEST letter in this 26 letter alphabeta we tend to articulate on a day to day basis. So yeah it’s very damn funny, but hey I like The Mummy just not the Jews which was mentioned in a script a character had to say because a pay day needed to happen in that time in 1999 when the scene was acted out.

He says: "I can use you (female version of you), and the rewards will be great". Funny thing is that Imhotep's Hebrew was a little off (either the fault of the director, or made purposeful since Imhotep perhaps was rusty with the language or maybe he was calling Benny his bitch). It's hard to hear, but he later angerly says "Was the other holies?!"

He could just not be fluent in that language. If the slaves of his time spoke a different language than he did, he might be able to understand and speak it, but not be fluent in it so little mistakes creep in here and there. A man of his high station would probably avoid speaking the language of a lowly slave as much as he can, so it'd make sense that he wouldn't be fluent in it.
@EE-md2lr
@EE-md2lr Жыл бұрын
Much of it comes from his station; since he is a high priest of a major god, he would have to understand who's talking to him to give blessings or daily prayer. But it also shows that much of his fluency comes from only a business standpoint of making the masses happy so they wouldn't try to revolt rather than him caring or wanting to learn so he wouldn't talk like an old friend.
