I feel Its because, yes, Bunsen and Beaker have fucked at least once alright, but Bert and Ernie, they were life partners! We don't even know if they fucked, since they acted like a very long married couple, always bickering and Messing w each others, doing shit like each reading a book on armchairs next to each other, not really interacting, just glad to keep each others company. Like, according to some more pruny fruits, thats pretty much how gay marriage ends up looking like usually.
