Even though this LOOKS like it would be on one of those "50 Horror Films" for $19.99 budget DVDs -- I don't think I ever saw this before. This is ABOVE AVERAGE . I too LOVe "groovy horror" - my FAVORITE period is 1969 - 1974. SO many classic low budget movies came out in a short 5 years. Unfortunately , 1975 Jaws and 1977 Star Wars put a HUGE gap in horror movies until Halloween in 1978.

This movie was at the same time utterly ridiculous and utterly marvelous. Like those nightmares that are as hilarious as they are horrifying (I've had my share of them). The original Spanish title (which translates as "the mansion of fog" or "the foggy mansion") is perfect, not just because the mansion is in a literal fog, but because a more metaphorical fog is what lets events play out as they do. A beautifully crafted tale of mystery and terror. Thanks for sharing it.

Once, we've entered such a thick fog, the visibility was 0 and we couldn't even see the bonnet! We had to carry on driving as we were on the motorway!! We had to keep to the same speed, carry on driving straight! I prayed aloud throughout this encounter, seriously thinking it's the last day of our lives. My husband, who was driving the car was completely "frozen" and white! Due to the same reaction of other drivers who had kept the same speed, we emerged from the fog after supposed eternity. I'll never forget the terror I felt in my chest. We had four little children with us which had made it 100% worse as my only worry was for them really. I'm petrified of even hint of the fog now.

@@mjrussell414 if we had stopped then the car behind would have smashed into us. The fog had descended on us from the top; we didn't have a chance to see it coming, no one did! So, the only think we could do, was driving straight at the same speed. We were surrounded by huge lorries and the whole incident was made even scared because of that. This movie HAS GOT TO BE the movie that inspired all of the '70's Scooby Doo episodes!! Remember??!! At the end of each episode Scooby and the gang would catch the monsters only to find out they were people dressing up as monsters! And the mansion has a knight's coat of armor and secret passageways just like in so many of the Scooby episodes!! This so has to be the film that inspired Scooby Doo! I was an avid watcher in the 1970's!

Anything beats a modern era 'Horror' movie. Gang of college students with no destination get stranded and walk up to a mansion , trespass and snoop all through the house. They all agree to stay inside, the best shaped girl gets nekkid and hops in the shower, hears noises so she dresses quickly and finds everybody has gone outside and left the door open...........then we all know how it ends.

La Mansión de la Niebla o The Murder Mansion o El asesino de la Niebla o El Grito 1972/España Aunque el tema es conocido:un grupo d personas buscan alojamiento y el peligro esta adentro mas que afuera, lograron sus toque goticos, una atmosfera lugubre donde la Niebla es otro personaje. Sus puntos flacos son algunas partes del libreto y la regular actuacion de algunos, pero destacables en otros. Con una puesta en escena atrevido, potente visualmente y entretenida. No se la pierdan si les gusta el terror de antes 9/10
