Alan Heath, yes Campbells and Macdonalds intermarried, perhaps the best known is Agnes Campbell who married James Macdonald, who died a prisoner of Shane O'Neill, who was collaborating with Queen Elizabeth of England, The Macdonalds had their revenge on Shane O'Neill by killing him as he tried to form an alliance with them, Agnes, after her husbands death at the hands of the O'Neills, went on to marry the O'Neill, but she spawned some bold Macdonald men, Angus and James of Dunivaig in Islay.
