I probably keep repeating myself forever. A kid's movie from the 80's. A few easter eggs in other movies and shows related to this one. In 'Coming to America' (1988) James Earl Jones wears a lion skin in a scene. Though you should watch 'Trading Places' (1983) first to get another easter egg in 'Coming to America'. Also, Scar's skin is in an episode of the 'Hercules' animated series. Edit: Favourite Disney movie? 'Robin Hood' (1973) of course. The one the traumatized me was 'The Fox and the Hound' (1981). In the past every generation had a Disney movie that traumatized us a little. And I believe that was a good thing.

Sad fact: It’s almost painful to listen to the music, because Hans Zimmers dad died when he was really little. Just like Simba. It doesn't matter how many times I've seen this movie, the scene where Simba finds Mufasa dead in the gorge always gets me in the heart. As much as I respect the actor, they almost cast Christopher Walken. Side note: Some of the character's names have meanings translated out of Swahili Simba: Lion Nala: Gift Mufasa: King Sarabi: Mirage Rafiki: Friend Pumbaa: Slow-Witted Zazu: Movement Shenzi: Savage Banzai: Skulk or lurk Taka (Scar's original name): Dirt or Garbage Timon (His name actually comes from Greek): Respect or Honor

I always wondered too why Mufasa never told Simba the truth, but I understand now. Mufasa died, Scar made his choice, and there was no going back. If Mufasa had told Simba the truth, he would've rushed there with anger and hatred in his heart. Killing Scar would not bring Mufasa back, but it would change Simba. Despite everything, Simba gave Scar exile, and he squandered it. Besides, Mufasa knew his time would come one day but never imagined that Scar would betray him.

The Lion King was a core childhood memory for every kid in my generation. For a lot of us, it was our first realization that one day our parents would die, and that there isn't anything you can do to stop it - and more importantly that it's not your fault. It taught us that life goes on, and that sometimes a change of environment can be what we need to become who we're meant to be.

Lion King 2 Simba's Pride, Lion King 1 1/2 check those out The 2019 remake was fairly decent, it was visually a technological achievement. The most realistic animated movie in history. Something to be praised about. But it doesn't live up to the OG, just like most Disney remakes no matter how good they are (and it never needed to be). None the less I still recommend you check the remake anyway, just to have your own opinion. It's visually beautiful to watch in it's own way.

What’s funny is, the Disney A Team (better artists) were all begging to work on “Pocahontas”. They believed it was going to be the next “Beauty and the Beast” possibly better. The B-Team was assigned to “The Lion King” because they thought Disney was past the “talking animals” phase and the new way forward was just fables, with people. So the B-Team went all in. They took inspiration from Moses, Hamlet, Kimba the White Lion. Then, they poured their hearts and souls into this film. It ended up being the best of the Renaissance Period (1989-1999).

Also, the main character, Sora, was a lion cub in that world (he’s actually a human for real), which is iconic to me! Also, Donald Duck is a Royal Magician (A Mage) and Goofy is a shield of the Royal Knights (A Shield), whom accompany Sora on his journey to find his missing friends, safe and sound! There are a few rough bumps along the way, and I don’t wanna divulge them without spoilers. Also, Mickey has a big role in the series as well (which I won’t spoil)

27:42 He doesn't tell Simba what happened because that's not Mufasa. Sadly, Mufasa is dead. This scene is meant to represent the inner conflict of Simba, and how the memories and sense of responsibility came back to him after Nala arrived. They talked about Mufasa and that messed with Simba's mind, after all, he always knew he was the king, but was running away from that. This vision is exactly what he needed to see/hear to do what he was supposed to do. He just needed Nala and Rafiki's words. In other words, Mufasa here is Simba talking to himself, but the inner Simba that he burried for all those years. So, this "Mufasa" knew only what Simba knew, and by that point Simba didn't know Scar killed Mufasa. Even his white eyes show you that this vision is not a real being.

Fun fact about the cast, Mufasa is played by the late James Earl Jones, Scar is played by Jeremy Irons, young Simba is play by Jonathan Taylor-Thomas, adult Simba is played by Matthew Broderick, and the three highness is played by Cheech Marin, Whoopi Goldberg, and Jim Cummings as Ed. And to let you know Jim Cummings was also the voice of Winnie the Pooh and Tigger
