truly one of the greatest scores ever composed

As a back-slidden Christian who still loves God - I love the the theme of this movie - a man who lost his faith, and thought that God had abandoned him - or maybe - just doesn't exist. When all this time, his curses turned out to be hidden blessings.

"The Hand Of Fate Part II" is possibly my favorite score track of all. I never tire of hearing it.

Adam Busenlehner couldn't agree more. Something so satisfying about it.

Quite literally the most underrated score ever. Might be might top 3. An absolute privilege to have seen this as a young lad of 13. Changed the way I saw and heard films. This films and its entirety is a masterpiece. Thanks for this piece!

@@mmssb7 completely wholeheartedly agree. I’m honestly not entirely sure why it was so undervalued when it first came out. One of the few scores that I find both critically and entertainingly enjoyable.

Delighted I found your channel. Film scores are an obsession for me and its great to hear this score receive your praise. its beautiful. Apparently James newton Howard wrote the opening titles without seeing a minute of footage. He's one of the greats.

I love how insultingly simple the score is to this movie.

I remember when Night came into one of the meeting rooms with a CD in his hand, which held a bunch of very rough ideas from Newton Howard - but a rough track of the overall ‘Signs’ main theme was on there, too - and Night turns around, with the main theme playing those three singular notes, and he’s like “THIS is the movie we’re making!!” And he’s so excited about it, because he originally wasn’t going to have any music in the film at all. I’ll never forget that moment. ‘Signs’ was a masterclass in “less is more”. I still drive by the property every time I drive to Philly. The house is gone now, but the corn is still there, as it is now part of the Agricultural School of Delaware. Apparently, the art department was able to grow the corn so fast - faster than what was currently being taught in the curriculum, at the time - that the college left the cornfield, and now teaches the way the production grew it, instead. True story.

I love this film, the score is in my top ten of all time (best score written in the new millennium) and I love your channel. However, I think this video could have used a bit more analysis like in your other videos. For instance, a breakdown on the significance of the three note motif, its variations and its use as a leitmotif much like Williams' theme to Jaws would have been great. I'm glad you brought up the use of silence (or no music), which is key in the film. A video specifically on spotting might be interesting to your viewers who might not have a grasp on that term. I hope you don't mind the criticism and suggestions. Keep up the good work.

I totally agree, in fact, I would agree there are a lot of my videos I feel could benefit from additional analysis. I tried finding it on youtube, unfortunately I couldn't, but on the Blu-ray of Signs there is a great video on the music of the film that I had watched before this, where they touched on that motif. I sometimes want to avoiding repeating something that has been said before, if I come across that video somewhere I'll be sure to share a link to it. One of the new aspects I am incorporating in my videos is a "Key Point", something that will become the focus of the video, hopefully this helps give them a bit more focus. I appreciate the feedback and love suggestions! You keep watching, I'll keep listening!
