Pneuma (πνεῦμα) is an ancient Greek word for "breath", and in a religious context for "spirit" or "soul". ... In classical philosophy, it is distinguishable from psyche (ψυχή), which originally meant "breath of life", but is regularly translated as "spirit" or most often "soul".- Wikipedia
@111...5 жыл бұрын
It's not a religious context, it's a spiritual context. Big difference :)
@adamorly29715 жыл бұрын
Pneuma meant "wind" originally, but was later used by Christians to describe the Holy "Spirit". Jesus breathed (pneuma) the Holy Spirit upon his disciples in John's Gospel. So, since God "breathed" life into humanity and Jesus into his believers, the idea is that there is a unity between those things whom God created.

@MWPRO1000 Danny plays a middle eastern drum on this song (I believe it's called the Tabla, but don't quote that). He also studied under some percussion masters in the Middle East and India at one point in his life. Along with his jazz background, he has said they are very influential to his sound and style. You can feel it in his tom work over the entire course of his career. Even with all the weird meters and changes, he gives that tribal beat with the toms all the time. That wakes up something primal in everyone when they hear it.

TOOL is like a spiritual teet one needs to go to from time to time to balance themselves out. Great video.

My first time listening because I knew it wouldn't be as special without hearing your review and seeing your reaction. I knew it was good but I waited for the exact right time. Thank you Tool. Thank you, Prez.

03:10 The smile that comes to my face every time Maynard starts singing on a Tool song.

There’s just a deep, deep satisfaction listening to this song and the entire album. Tool’s music isn’t for everyone but the sheer technical brilliance, the creative maelstrom of sounds that the band puts out elevates them to a unique place in music. This music is highly challenging but at the same time joyfully accessible. There’s few Prog bands and especially Prog Metal bands that command such acclaim and attention as Tool. Let’s hope they’ve got another record in them.

Preston, I am 52 and while a lot of people think The Beatles are the best band ever, I believe the Brits best addition to world music is PF. They are so exceptional and unique. AND, I agree with you that America's PF is Tool! I love the parallel. Both have amazing musicianship and lyricism. And, ALL of both band members are very intelligent people. I agree with you, my 2 favorite bands in the world are Pink Floyd and Tool.

I love that you get it. Some have been complaining about not enough Maynard on this album. But like you said. The music takes you on a journey of its own and the lyrics he does have are fire! A deep , commanding call for us all to rise up! Wakeup.
