I saw Fog Hat in concert up front. It was one of the best concerts I ever saw. It was a very small venue with no fancy lights or props. Their performance was raw, but they played incredible. Price was unbelievable. The way he played with a slide blew everyone away! I never heard guitar playing like that before, and I have not heard anything like that since. Their first LIVE record is the first LP I ever bought.

Savoy Brown and Foghat were so great because of Lonesome Dave . Their original lineup was fantastic. Dave makes every record he played on or produced sound incredible .

Savoy Brown was great because of the primary guitar player Kim Simmonds.

You are aware that Dave Edmunds is not Lonesome Dave Peverette?

I first saw Bryan Bassett in Lonesome Dave's Foghat around 1989. I was honored to buy them a Round after the show. 12 years later I got to hang out with Roger, Bryan, Tony and Charlie before a show. Fan since Blue Matter......

My band opened for Lonesome Dave's Foghat in 1990 here in the Atlanta area. Dave was spot on with the vocals and the band was tight. However they were just not the same sound as the original line up. They were really great to us and let us play a full 55 minute set. I will say that the band and Dave's handler told us that at times if you talk to him he would just blank out and smile at you. That only happened once for a minute or two...the rest of time he was great. Stories galore too. They were one of my Favorite bands in the mid 70's.

'Trouble Trouble' is real good. With those layered solos. And that reverb. And that Berry redo that only the Brits could make so cool.

Very cool! I never knew this - was always a big, big fan of Dave Edmunds said Rockpile! That lone album is a too 'slick sounding' representation of a kick ass band and its a shame we didn't get more! Still played the heck out of it!

The first album is by far the best. "Hole to Hide in", probably my favorite song from that album, but it's a pretty good record all through. I saw Foghat in '76, UFO opened for them.

Rod was not in Savoy Brown. He came from Black Cat Bones. Tony , Dave , Rodger were from Savoy Brown. Price joined British blues band Black Cat Bones at the age of 21, replacing guitarist Paul Kossoff. They recorded one album, Barbed Wire Sandwich, which was released in early 1970, when British blues was being supplanted by rock. The album was a critical success but a commercial failure. After this band broke up he joined Foghat.

Dave Edmonds was great, but the second Foghat album was even better than the first one. Energized and Rock 'n Roll Outlaws are also excellent. Rod Price was as good as it gets on slide.

Savoy Brown was excellent back in late 60s and early 70s. I can't say Foghat was bad- they weren't - but they weren't as adult as Savoy Brown. They appealed to American teens whereas Savoy was directed to more adult demographic. I preferred Savoy Brown both then and now.

These guys were veterans, they were not neophytes, Foghat came out of Savoy Brown, and everybody knows this. Dave Edmunds may have contributed, but he didn't save anything.
