In the last month or two, I've watched a bunch of 1980's-90's era videos on here of James Wilsey performing--with this group, with Chris Isaak, with the Avengers. Every time, the comments are full of love and appreciation for him and his talent, and sorrow for his untimely death. I wish he could see it! It's indescribably touching. He really left a mark. He was loved, and he is remembered with love. Jimmy, I wish I'd heard you play in person. I wasn't ever lucky enough, but an old friend of mine knew you back then and so it's like one degree of separation, right? Rest in peace.

I'll add one more appreciative comment. Jimmy was an execptonal talent and I've never read a bad word about him. It's always sad when a bright light is extinguished, ironically he seems to be more alive in people's musical hearts, as he is remembered as the King of Slow. Obviously he rocked and lived to his own special beat...

Wow! What a impactful comment! I never thought about whether Jimmy would have made better choices in life if he knew how much people cared for him and loved his music. I'd hope so. Long live James Calvin Wilsey!

Outstanding Eric. James's signature is all over these selections .... complimentingly so. Sometimes wonders where that bent note'l wind up pitchwise. He was great as a kid playing with The Avengers. A rare combination of affable and focused onstage. Nice in person as well. Saw him with Chris Issak too. Always in step with the music and action in performance. Sometimes the subject of Issaks's between songs patter. Perfect foil for Isaak's pointed humor. It made for epic performances. Just one question ElectricEric. Is Chris Lawrence still playing? An absolute genius musician.

Chris is still busy playing. Currently with The Noble Prix, John Surge and The Haymakers, various session work, and whenever a fellow musician rings him up to come sit in with the band. Look up Kimmie Bitter, the pedal steel work on her current album, "Old School", is Chris.
