I’m sure you’re gonna get hundreds of people tell you this but I’m the first. Just about everything about the lizard missions was recycled for the Spider-Man 3 ps3/360 version of the game. Even the ninjas are in it.

His and Kraven's subplots in the Spider-Man 2 (PS4/5) game are eerily similar to the Spider-Man 3 movie game Lizard shows up, gets big, Kraven is involved (might've even caused it, I haven't touched that game since I finished it in 2007, so I can't say for sure)

So basically they just took the concept and put it in Spider-Man 3, cause what you're describing sounds a lot like the lizard subplot and the Spider-Man 3 game.

Yes and No since the GBA version used the charater model in the stills used for cut scenes which became the bulky Lizard enemies. But the boss fight remained in GBA version and they did the same with the Electro boss for the DS.

The lizard wasnt entirely missing it was on the GBA. But 3D lizard model used in the cut scene got used as those bulky Lizard enemies but not actual Lizard Curt Conners turned into.

Spiderman 2 in Gba has Lizard instead of Spiderman 3 in Spiderman 3 Gba Lizard is replaced with mad bomber.

Actually the GBA and Ngage ports of the game, which were 2d side-scrollers made for handheld platforms, had sewer levels and eventually the Lizard as a boss fight in the end of those.

Play the Wii version of Spider-Man 3. All of this lizard stuff is in there. The lizard minions coming out of the sewer, having to chase and fight the lizard, lizard being turned into a giant monster lizard. Check it out!!

I'm glad more people are shedding a light on the Lizard cut content! Maybe one day a dev build of SM2 will be found with an earlier version that still has the lizard content!

I'm genuinely curious now how they would have made it work. On top of the game already being stuffed full of villains with their own plotlines, Spider-Man 2 has a very different tone and theme from Spider-Man 3 where the Lizard and Kraven stories were added. The Lizard story wouldn't have served very well in number 2's more hopeful and motivating theme of sacrifice and balance. It works a lot better with number 3's themes of redemption, forgiveness and battling inner demons. Connors experiences a similar change that Spider-Man does where their darkest side nearly becomes their undoing. I'm guessing that's exactly why it was cut because either there just wasn't enough space with the Mysterio, Black Cat and Shocker storylines or they couldn't find a way for the idea to complement the story the way Black Cat does with her representing the other side of the struggle that Peter faces in choosing between his two lives.

I’m fairly certain they had planned to bring vulture back in some way as well. There was a cutscene hinting at a return in the first movie game and you can even find his feathers in the second game on the Empire State Building (which is where the original boss fight took place.) Guess it was just another unfortunate cut.

This was very interesting. I remember as a kid being in awe how much freedom we got in free roam, so much so that i would look at every detail i could. The manhole always stood out to me. Ultimate spider-man was my favorite besides this. Great video.

Tbh i think Lizard is the PERFECT villain for Spiderman 4 if tobey and raimi decide to do it. Dr Connors was a big side character in 2 and 3. And Dr Connors' actor has explicitly said he wants to be Lizard. Sam raimi can also make this the darkest movie, as he's one if the scariest villains in spidermans rogues gallery. Raimi can go all out with his horror roots and make Lizard petrifying. The plot wrotes itself tbh, we spent two movies with this character so i think its time he finally transforms. It'll even be really emotional since we know Dr Connors adores peter and his students and seeing him fall into a villain would give the story a ton of weight

I just found your channel and you are massively underrated. Spider Man 2002 also has a lot of interesting unused content with concept art and old development trailers. Its quite nifty and cool and you should check it out. As for Spider Man 2, The Lizard was to be planned for this game and his henchmen are still found in the combat arena (where their voice clips are recycled Skull Gang clips from SM2002). I have a theory about Calpsyo though. She’s formally known as the wife of Kraven The Hunter and Kraven was featured in the Xbox release of SM2002. I think Calpsyo was planned to be a new boss who’d take revenge on Spider Man after he defeated Kraven previously, but because Kraven was locked to one release… she was ultimately scrapped and saved as a Superboss. I found it super cool how small secrets like these still exist in this game even 20 years later. I’m surprised Treyarch and Activision didn’t do any exclusive release fights for different versions… but perhaps that was for the best

I am happy it was moved for Spider Man 3 instead getting the black suit, grabbing and throwing the kaju lizard into Generators then breaking open it’s jaw, toppling it over by grabbing it’s leg to then follow up with a freaking swing shot to grab it’s face to be smashed through and on to the train tracks pretty much beating its ass so hard it reverted to Connor’s, all I say is Insomniac Lizard got lucky.

Governor’s Island in SM2 was always a fascination of mine as well! So many things left on the cutting room floor, it’d be amazing if one day a source code disk for an earlier build was found, they just found one for the 2003 Daredevil game 😅

@@YourOlderBrotherChannel Ah I see. Because I've checked the versions for SM2, GameCube, PS2 and Xbox. The big difference between them, besides Gamecube somehow having better lighting, reflection and, at times, better colours for the Spider-Man Suit than PS2, is that the Xbox version included the after image effect where Spidey leaves frames of his attack animations. And I think his air tricks as well when he's swinging, if I'm not mistaken. GC and PS2 sadly doesn't have this design for some reason

@@YourOlderBrotherChannel Yup, it might seem strange but it could be a small homage to the comics where Spidey can be shown leaving after images in one frame. There are other games that continued this trend back during Activision's run, WoS (Even Amazing Allies Edition has this), Shattered Dimensions, Edge of Time, TASM 1 for the NDS (I think) and probably more. Yup, enjoyed it well. 👍

I remember the good old days of this game and there were so many urban legends about it. Legends like if you arrived at the manhole outside the pizza parlour at precisely on midnight the manhole would open up and you'd find the lizard down there. I tried it it didn't work lmao. If you got 100% completion the locked doors at the Daily Bugle would apparently unlock and give you new costumes. I got to 95% completion so I can't comment on that other than I'm not getting my hopes up.

Wouldn't say insomniac recycled from 2. They recycled basically some of the core ideas from the spider man 3 video game's lizard just no calypso.
