The Mystery of the Ringing Rocks-DESTINATION ANYWHERE

For some reason, when you hit these boulders with a hammer, they make a ringing musical noise instead of the thud you would expect. Are these rocks magical or just a part of the formation of the Earth? On this episode of Destination Anywhere, we take a trip to Ringing Rocks County Park, on the Pennsylvania/New Jersey border to take a closer look.

Nice job on this one. I live nearby and have visited a few times. If I may, I would like to offer a helpful hint and a few recommendations for those who visit for the first time. I have found that a small rock pick hammer really works great vs a standard flat head hammer. Since a rock pick has a pointed head you can get a sharper sound right away on most every rock. The flat head will have a distinct 'thud' sound with it's ring. Hiking boots or really good protective footwear is highly recommended. Not a suitable activity for those under five years of age because falling in between the large boulders is a definite hazard if you are little.

Just came across your channel and absolutely love it. I live on the edge of the pine Barrens (L.B.I.) and enjoy wandering around trying to find forgotten things amongst the miles of dirt roads. Happily subscribed, keep it up. Was wondering if you ever heard of a ghost town close to the old train trestle over 72 near Chatsworth? Heard from a couple people about it but never had any luck finding, want to do some metal detecting at the site of the Blue Comet derailment. Stay safe.
