I've been waiting for this comment since the video came out. It definitely gave me a laugh. In order to get enough footage, I had to keep jumping off the cliff at the end of the level since the ghost only appears one time. This respawns you in the middle of the level, and well, the game was feeling bad about my countless deaths... Sooooo... Luigi and Mario were basically stuck in groundhog day scenarios where they were thrown to their death each and every time. Which makes this concept even more grim!

Funnily enough, there are other ghostly figures like that in Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker. In 2-4. Sinister Street Signs, every so often a long spindly ghost will fly out of prison bars. And in 3-17, Fright Train Flight, waiting at the end of the train until the timer hits 300 reveals a massive ghost figure laughing under the tracks forever.

That's not all. In Ghost Gallery Gauntlet the level starts with the star just in front if you. Once you go to grab it disappears and you have to climb through the stage to find it. At the start of the level there is no music. If you wait for a while you hear weird noises. And in the first ghost house level of the game, Dodgy Doors at Boo Mansion, there is a part of the level where if you wait in that area for a few minutes glowing blue handprints appear on the wall.

It's a Chinese-Japanese thing. "Four" is pronounced similarly to "death" in Chinese. Since the Japanese adopted much of the Chinese characters into their language, many of these connotations also appear in Japanese culture.

I remember trying somehow to connect this with the world 1 UFO in this same game, but no matter wherever I looked or whatever I thought up, I had no leads or ideas what this could mean. It was so unsettling, and I hated it! It also appeared in 8-4, and that’s the only place I remember it being, and I remember sometimes I would accidentally zoom in on it in the end-level cutscene. He’s staring into the city’s abyss, and he wears a dark outfit and is tall. But when you approach him... He turns to pixels... and fades away!

I mean this seems really obvious, Mario ghost house levels have a history of having visuals that are inspired by impressionist art and referencing it directly. Someone clearly just placed it there in order to fit with the ambiance and was inspired by The Scream. It's just to have something ghostly in an area where there are no enemies, it was probably placed at the start for the same reason and then because it doesn't show up as an object it was forgotten about when the level geometry changed and the windows moved.

I have a recommendation for you, in Super Mario Galaxy 2 on Cosmic Cove Galaxy, there is a mission called Exploring The Cosmic Cavern. When you first arrive on the level, turn around and go into first-person mode to see the backround behind you. Once you have done this you might see a few black holes in the distance. Keep in mind that they are VERY hard to see since they are so far away. Can you please make a video of you exploring this? If you're going to make a video on this oralready planning to, Thank You

How you don't have at least a million subscribers is beyond me! You are one of my favourite creators out there and definetely deserve more!!! Also, couldn't this be just a way fro people to talk about this game more? I am pretty sure 3d land is quite an underrated game, so maybe this was done by nintendo to create some hype around the game and make people remember it. But I might be stupid and don't know what I am talking about hahaha!
