When Matthew started to speak about a throwaway society my tears turned into crying. As a Ward of the State (no fault of mine-a baby) my experiences with people devalued me. I still struggle with severe depression amongst other medical illnesses. Counselling has helped a little, but none offer a Christian scriptural perspective. I believe, for myself, that is what I need. I find Fr Goring’s posts so helpful in guiding me even at my age. (I’m 67) Peace be with you all. Keep safe and healthy. 🙋🏼‍♀️🇦🇺✝️

I was asleep in my faith. I was drawn back journeying with my Father thru his dementia. In church I found "dont give up chocolate this lent" which led me to look into dynamic catholic. It was my starting point. Matthew held the church door open for me figuratively speaking. Thank you Matthew Kelly. Stepping stones to Heaven are many but you need to get your feet stepping at some point.

This came to me while praying my rosary a couple of months ago. Plz read it excuse punctuation and spelling. Our lives are like a blank canvas, waiting for the Master painter. With each experience we have with Him it’s like a brush stroke of vibrant color. The color brings life to the canvas. The Master painter keeps painting our whole life on that canvas. As we start to return from being in the world with all of our brush strokes laid bare for all to see. Hopefully they will see the masterpiece the Master made of me. This is one of many God blesses me with I love Him beyond words. And hopefully will see many of you at the party 😁 Fr. Mark in heaven. We all can praise Him for eternity!!! God Bless

What a great message! I struggle with the feeling of not being good enough to be Christ's disciple. I put it down to the "great accuser" trying to bring me down to his level. I've started saying St. Patrick's Breastplate in the morning before I meet the day. It's the total package, every angle is covered so you can face the day without fear.

Hi Sharon, I had a connection to a religious order The Faithful Companions of Jesus and started there to see if someone was available. I lucked out and have a nun as my director and it takes awhile to build the relationship but once that is done, deeper conversations grow and it has challenged my faith growth to go deeper and deeper. Not always easy but wow, so worth the effort. God is good!! Might be a starting point.

Sharon Thompson In my life when I find a good pious confession priest I try to go regularly to him and eventually ask questions briefly at the end of Confession, if I feel stuck. Most of the time, God leads me through the sermons and Scripture, as well as the lives of certain saints who seem understandable to me and or who dealt with similar problems. Sometimes God gives direct illumination or illustrations during prayer. I would only bring up prayers like this to my confessor if ever an illumination seemed to interfere with my duties in life.

Interesting 3 years happened in my life I went through that time like no other time in my life 3 years ago I did things I never ever dreamed I would do the amount of sin almost dragged me to hell. COOVID actually woke me up I woke up kicking and screaming (figure of speech) but I really believe I almost died a number of times through loss of different organs wow and through that I got to see really how much sin I was in. At the time I was so absorbed and enthralled that I didn't want to give it up but Jesus is so loving and patient that he showed me how to begin again and be forgiven back to my Baptism Divine Mercy Sunday (I m a convert) I am so Blessed trying to be perfect and not sin isolated and alone (lockdowns) but now have been strengthened. Praise Be Jesus and the gifts I had locations and visions is coming back to me I did not realize how much the gift was and why. God Bless You Fr. Mark and Mike Kelly listening to you strengthened me more thank you. 🕊🙏👼📯👱‍♀️💖

That’s EXACTLY why he came down on Earth and DIED for OUR sins…. Our sins make us « broken » Christ’s REDEMPTION and him dying on the Cross makes us new again!…. Better than before because we LEARN from our mistakes and grow closer to God! Viva Cristo!

GREAT question....... " Can something that has been broken be put back together in a way that makes it more beautiful than ever before"?One name comes to mind.....JOB. Job's life experiences during his trial and stormy days and how he passed that " Test' is the perfect example/answer to that question. He passed the test and he was blessed doubled than what he used to own and possess.

Yes Jesus looks at the intention of the heart and our effort, we must never get discouraged but in our frailty seek refuge in the Wounds of Jesus. We can put all our trust in His Wounds, when we fail, we can always turn to His Wounds, humbling ourselves and being deeply grateful for the Love and Mercy of our Jesus. Failure is an opportunity to remain humble and needing Jesus...without humility we can easily lose our need for Jesus. As long as we know we need Him and we keep trying to console His Heart this is all that matters. The Mercy of Jesus is endless, humility and repentance is the key to His Heart. Contrition leads to faithfulness and submission. O blessed brokenness and frailty that brought us such a great Redeemer...may our daily conversion bring glory to His Merciful Wounds! 🙏🏻🕊🔥❤️🔥🕊🙏🏻

The "Dark Night of the Soul" is a very trendy expression often used to label mischief. The truth is that it is a painful gift from God to purify souls which have already chosen to live for Him alone. If you are habitually in the state of Mortal Sin, you cannot label your misery with the respectable name of "Dark Night of the Soul."

Oooo! Hit the nail on the head when he said the great tragedy of time is that people don't have someone they can ask if they have a spiritual question. Sadly, I feel that way a lot. Sometimes I ask my priest and am left feeling like I'm bothering him or he doesn't really want to think about it. It's can be frustrating at times. Thank heavens for priests like Fr. Goring, Fr. Heilman and several of the laity that have YT vids. I don't think I would've been able to grow as much without them, in the least it would've been a lot harder.

Oh my goodness thank you. I have gone thru about 4 horrible years. Then things totally broke apart when my beloved "baby" brother passed very suddenly in November 2019. After that we had covid. My parish priest was amazing and a wonderful spiritual adviser. Then within six months he was transferred. I am very thankful for Catholicism which teaches me my suffering has value. But until now, I never thought of this time as "Dark Night of the Soul" but now I believe that is so. Mr. Kelly just hit all the nails on the head so to speak. Now, I am going to read his book and research St. John of the Cross. This has given me some real hope for the first time.

Great interview, Father. Matt, your contributions to our collective faith journey and life long search for healing are vital. Thank you. I personally have one of those questions, essential to moving forward on my journey, and I DONT know who I can talk to to sort out an answer… I trust in Jesus incontrovertibly, but I do not trust my Church leadership any longer, and am so disappointed in the direction they are going and the unfinished business of cleaning up the wreckage from the scandals and sins within.

Yes that too is another very good interview. The dark night of the soul...I think means different things for different people. Mother Teresa of Calcutta said that for twenty years she felt nothing, no joy in God whatsoever. Hard for us to imagine her suffering but important to appreciate that she just continued...automatic function but one that led to incredible sanctity. I suppose it means we are never nearer to our lord in this life then when we feel abandoned with him on Calvery. I would add that perhaps bizarrely for someone that tries to worship God Almighty, I often rage against our lord. When I think great injustice or wickedness exists I dare shout at God, complain, moan, fight. If I could I would punch him on the nose! And yet...when I ponder and review these times, look back, in horror sometimes... I see our lord is content with what I have done. It adds to faith and hope and like two friends at peace in each others company it opens our hearts to forgiveness and love. The relationship we have with God can and does and should flourish in good times, happy times and joyful times. Yet, God wants us to be near him, understand his beating heart. To love him after we argue, after we sin, after we are exhausted with all our self and what we thought important. Then Our Lord seems to give us himself, as he did on Calvary and after that event. Our need for him to support us becomes absolute and we slowly come to realise that he loves us and wants us to know that fact because we become ever more dependant upon his grace

Jesus said be as Holy and Perfect as your Father in Heaven. Only God is Perfect. What Jesus meant was Never Stop Trying for Perfection in Life regardless of what you do. Its not what job you do, it's how you do it that we will be Judged on. Jesus said everything you do,do it as iff you are doing it for God. With all the evil in the World and Especially in Gods house of Worship, The Catholic Church, I thank God that I am responsible for My Own Soul. Nobody can take that away from Me or You.We will be Judged by Jesus on our Faith and our Works Not by Faith alone or Works alone. Faith is something that nobody can take from you, you have to give it away. Be Strong in your Faith and know the Days we live in. People have to want healing, though. Some people don’t want to change because they will have to turn from their sins. They may want to be free from their pain, but they don’t want to forgive the person who hurt them. Thieves may feel remorse in prison, but not enough to start working instead of stealing. The worst people are what I call professional victims. They screw up their lives with their own poor choices and always blame others. These people swear up and down that they too want healing, but never enough to take ownership of their own actions.

I have lost all faith in religion and god, it's all just nonsense. If there was a god he would not have created so much misery and for us to endure it with no way out. there are days when I wish every single religion just disappeared, it would be one less thing for people to fight over too

Sorry to hear that. The problem of evil is definitely not easy to understand, so I can sympathize. I can only speak for Catholicism, but it's amazing to know that God became man in the person of Jesus Christ and that he can relate to us. No one will ever be as innocent as him and yet he voluntarily allowed himself to be mocked, tortured and killed to show us how much he loves us. He's not some far-away God that we can't relate to. Regarding suffering and misery, he gets it, and didn't exclude himself from it. It also might be the case that God has good reasons to allow evil and suffering if he can bring a greater good out of it. Think of Jesus being killed to redeem us, for example. If I was given the choice to have a great, comfortable life on earth but be separated from God from all eternity or to have a miserable life on earth but have infinite joy in the presence of God for all eternity, I'd choose the miserable earthly life. I obviously don't always know why God allows bad things to happen but some of the greatest blessings for me, personally, have come through suffering. I'm also reminded of St. Bernadette whom the Blessed Virgin Mary told, "I can't promise you happiness in this life, only in the next." That may or may not be helpful but maybe it'll give you something to think about. I'll pray for you and God bless

God has not created the misery, People have.Think about it. It is not religion that has caused the misery but the false religions trying to destroy the true religion. This is my personal belief. I believe we are given these negative experiences so we can develop compassion, empathy, understanding and love. It’s how we walk, as close as we can, in another persons shoes, as the saying goes. This is what the Son of God actually did! This is why we can feel how Mother Mary would have felt watching her son suffer. How we know what lengths God has gone to so we return his love. And Jesus, His Love for us is why he sacrificed himself, suffered unbearable pain, scorn, unjustified accusations etc, all because of the love for Our Father and us. I hope your feelings of worthlessness subsides quickly. You are a worthy Child of God. You have lost you way only for a short time. Can I ask this of you? Each day go outside, look at various plants and thank God for his creation. Then look at some part of you and say the same. Knowing you are beautiful in Gods eyes you can develop Gods love for all things. Keep safe and search out faithful sites to watch. 🤗✝️

Make sure you have the first Translation Bible as the new ones Have been watered down! Woe TO Those Who Have Changed GODS WORD. I Rejoice In My Beloved Lord JESUS CHRIST Day and Night. Mankind creates their own misery and war and hate. I find comfort in my faith to HIM and I find mankind evil clowns. hell mankind seems to follow the devil and his destruction of all that is good, families, children, etc. We humans are so deaf dumb and blind we do not see how the devil hates mankind completely and want us all dies or with him in hell. I still and always will put my Faith in GOD ALMIGHTY and not mankind or that fallen angel/eternal loser/satan
