If only they had taken the time to think through what a mortal would have to go through living forever, they could have asked for eternal youth as well, that said it's possible that after hundreds of years they may have gotten tired of each other or Aurora could have asked to become mortal or they could have drank from the water of Lethe and forgotten about each other. Not just a reminder to be careful what you wish for but also an intriguing thought experiment.

This is why being immortal ain't worth it. Sure, you live basically forever, but you can't die and be reunited with your loved ones nor can you have a family as you know that they'd grow older and eventually pass on while you would not.

Its not immortality that costed him, it was the aging in immortality that killed him physically and psychologically. I mean if someone is asking for a gift with smile on face then certainly he wants the gift to be a blessing but instead he got cursed. And also that heartless Zeus didn't care. He is more like a demon than a God
