I have several Qurans at home, the 9-vol set of al-Bukhari, the sira, couple books of Sharia, have read countless tafsirs and hadiths online, and have and read numerous academic books on the Quran and early Islam.

@Maissae Different translations, some with commentary which is very useful. I also read all the translations online, and always the tafsirs. I'm an astrophysicist from Canada and have spent a long time studying the early history of Islam, the Quran, and have read many academic books on the subject. I have had and have Muslim friends, so I didn't "find" Islam. However, I have heard them make claims which did not seem to be scientifically or historically credible, so I looked into that and found that basically all of the Muslim claims are just that, they are not backed by any evidence. One of my favourites for example is that Abraham went to Mecca and that Mecca was an important town long before Muhammad, or that the Quran talks about the Big Bang! LOL. Muslims usually don't bother to study science or history, so they propagate such silly ideas.

According to Islamic sources Muslim means the submitted. The submitted to the will of Allah. Those that submit to Muslims are called Dhimmi. Muslims and Dhimmi aren't supposed to be equal, a Dhimmi is inferior to a Muslim, therefore you can't call those who were conquered and submitted Muslims..So Islam is a religion of submission which linguistically does include all the submitted ones Dhimmis and Muslims, but in Jurisprudence it only include Muslims.

Why does the Quran have both peaceful and violent passages? Whenever Muslims are approached with the accusation that the Quran preaches war and violence (9:5 - "slay the idolators whenever you find them" and 9:29 - "fight those who believe not in Allah") they point to the peaceful verses that preaches tolerance (106:9 - "you shall have your religion and I shall have mine" and 2:256 - "let there be no compulsion in religion") and when seen in context, only allows fighting in self-defence during war (2:190-192 - "if they attack you then kill them" ). Let's examine this objectively. The first thing to understand before anything else would be the concept of Abrogation. 2:106 - If We ever abrogate a verse or cause it to be forgotten, We replace it with a better or similar one. 16:101 - When We replace a verse with another - God knows what He reveals - they say, “You're a fraud.” But most of them don’t know. So, according to the Quran when faced with conflicting commands Muslims are required to go with latest ruling and not the one they like best. Now let's apply this methodology to the verses that are in conflict with regards to Peace and Violence. The reason why we have this conflict is because verses were revealed in stages to reflect the current socio-political situation present at the time, and they follow a specific sequence borne from the idea that a Muslim is in permanent in a state of Jihad (inward and outward struggle/fighting) influenced by their status in a society. 1. Defensive Jihad - when Muslims are in the minority and can't possibly win a confrontation with the disbelievers the message is to preach religious tolerance and peace with the goal of harmonious co-existence with other faiths but also promising a painful punishment for the disbelievers. This is evident when Muhammed and his followers were being persecuted as a minority by the Quraish and were outnumbered. 2. Active Jihad - when the community is large enough, Muslims are encouraged to fight the non believers but only as a form of self defense and form alliances with those outside Mecca. Evidence of his can be found in this verse. 22:39-40 - Permission ˹to fight back˺ is ˹hereby˺ granted to those being fought, for they have been wronged. And Allah is truly Most Capable of helping them prevail. ˹They are˺ those who have been expelled from their homes for no reason other than proclaiming: “Our Lord is Allah.” Had Allah not repelled ˹the aggression of˺ some people by means of others, destruction would have surely claimed monasteries, churches, synagogues, and mosques in which Allah’s Name is often mentioned. 3. Offensive Jihad - when Muslims are in the majority and have achieved political and economic power they are instructed to strive for offensive Jihad. This jihad takes the form of outward fighting to subjugate everyone and force them to accept Islam. Evidence of this can be found in multiple sources. Quran 9:29-34 - Fight those who DON'T BELIEVE in God and the Last Day, and don’t forbid what God and His Messenger forbade, and don’t follow the Religion of Truth - among those who received the Scripture - until they pay the tax with a willing hand, being obedient. The Jews said, “Ezra is the son of God.” And the Christians said, “The Messiah is the son of God.” These are their statements from their mouths. They imitate what the unbelievers said before them. May God fight them! How deceived they are! They took their scholars and priests as lords instead of God, and the Messiah, the son of Mary. Although they were commanded to worship one God, besides Whom, there is no God. Glory be to Him, beyond what they associate. They want to extinguish God’s light with their propaganda, but God refuses except to complete His light, however much the unbelievers hate it. He sent His Messenger with guidance and the true religion, to make it >prevail over all other religions

It became a religion of peace after Islamic sympathizers and moderates and nominal Muslims wanted to reclaim the image of Islam as one of violence. The issue is whether these people are indeed peaceful people regardless of their religion, or because of it.

Mohamed marry a 6 years old child, a baby. Sahih al-Bukhari 5134 that the Prophet (ﷺ) married her when she was six years old and he consummated his marriage when she was nine years old. Hisham said: I have been informed that `Aisha remained with the Prophet (ﷺ) for nine years (i.e. till his death). And took his adopted son's wive as his. Sura al-Ahzab 33:37, "When thou saidst to him whom God has blessed and thou hadst favoured, 'Keep thy wife to thyself; and fear God', and thou wast concealing within thyself what God should reveal, fearing other men; and God has better right for thee to fear Him. So when Zaid had accomplished what he would of her, then We gave her in marriage to thee, so that there should not be any fault in the believers, touching the wives of their adopted son, when they had accomplished what they would of them; and God's commandment must be performed."

Surely, Allah is the Highest, the Greatest." Muhammad himself says women are deficient in intelligence. Women testimony are less valid then male. Women cannot lead prayer. Al-Ahzaab 33:333: And stay in your houses and do not display yourselves like that of the times of ignoranc. Men are allowed to have 4 wives if the wife agrees but the wife cannot. And yes, having rules for either sex is sexist no matter what so saying "well women are supposed to do this while men can't!". Its sexist. No matter what.

As a person who vehemently criticizes Islam, that is a logicless argument. Theologically, Jesus was a puppet. The OT god was a complete jerk, just like Allah. In NT, he simply manipulates people by doing a sacrifice of his son. See, preasts soon realized that the old Gid was barbaric and it was time to change laws. And hey, you got this loving religion, or is it? Judaism had draconian laws which Christianity abolished, but made itself universal, instead if an ethnic religion.
