I was a guest operator (I am the one in the shades) at Tracy's field day site this year and I can attest to the success Tracy describes in the video. Operating QRP during Field Day can be a challenge, but as you heard by the reports, this antenna was a winner. 73, Paul, VE3EBY.

What a small small world! I live the town next to Algonquin, IL (where KE9AU resides). Very exciting to hear that in this video haha. On a more on topic note, excellent video, and great production value. Thanks!

I used the Ultralight 40-6 Meter HF Off-Center Fed Dipole QRP / Portable Multiband Antenna made by Tim N9SAB at field day this past weekend. Had it up as a Flat Top about 20-25 feet ....... Worked FLAWLESSLY on 10, 15, 20, 40 & 80 AND 160 (yes it tuned up on 80 and 160 with my LDG Tuner AT 100 Tuner with no problem 1.1 ) Not many stations on 160 but the three I heard I was able to work. I worked 150+ plus stations on these bands, ALL CW, with ease........even pushing it to abt 80 watts. this little 2oz antenna is in my go bag along with 2 end feds at all times and I would not be without it....... You da man tim N9SAB.............. 73 DE Greg WA3GM

Great video mate! Would have liked to see a bit more about the DX wire fibreglass pole and getting that up, maybe a video idea for the future :) 73 from Andrew VK2XXL

I bet this works really well on 80m. Looks like a fair price for the utility you get - I'd buy it but already have a 4:1 balun and wire to make my own.

Sounds great Carson, I'm looking forward to your video showing that antenna in action. To all reading this comment, if you have not checked out VA3OSO's channel, you should absolutely do so. He's got some great stuff on there, I'm a fan.

Good morning, you have been very inspirational to getting me back on the air after 25 years. I have been checking the eBay store for about a month. He seems to be gone. Any information about him. I would love to have a couple of them since all my aerials have fallen down over the years. Again,thank you for your inspiration.

Hi Tommy, thank you for letting me know about the impact my videos have had. Putting these videos together is a lot of work. Comments like yours make it all worthwhile. I wish I knew more about Tim and his status. I've no more information than you. I hope he comes back to the ham radio fraternity soon. I'd like to shoot a video with him one day.

I'm a fan of OCFDs. Was the fly included for free, or is it an optional extra? :-)
@OutdoorsOnTheAir7 жыл бұрын
I think the fly was a ham. He didn't show up until the camera was recording. 😀

Why I keep reading of built antennas which probably cost less to what I just got; expended about $425.00 to get 2 HyEnd Fed antennas from overseas; one mini for QRP 4 bands and one 8 band for permanent yard installation (800 Watts) the prices were somewhat attractive and they are well built but since it is overseas and i paid with paypal, there is about $80.00 in shipping cost and fees. I wonder if they are worth it. I am new ham going for my general soon and getting ready ahead of myself with the expenses..73, KI7CSI
@OutdoorsOnTheAir6 жыл бұрын
From my experience, as long as you can get those antennas up to a decent height I believe you will have a lot of success with them. 73 from Tracy VE3TWM.

@@OutdoorsOnTheAir Is 32 Ft decent or it could be more? We got a tree on front of house..should it be taller than the tree in the backyard or it does not matter? 73, KI7CSI
@OutdoorsOnTheAir6 жыл бұрын
32 feet is a good height and should work fine for you. Good luck with it! PS I will respond to your other message but I need a bit more time to put together a response.

I enjoyed your video. BUT, I would have liked you to show an SWR sweep, of all of the usable bands, using an antenna analyzer. Most OCF80's, that are built properly, do in fact show a low SWR on their usable bands. I am not saying low across the entire band, just positive dips per band. Barry, KU3X
@OutdoorsOnTheAir4 жыл бұрын
It's a good point, Barry. I'll look at showing SWRs in future videos. I do not have an antenna analyzer, so it would have to be the old fashioned way.
