It's hard to believe it's almost been 10 years since Leslie Nielsen passed away. He's sorely missed.

Its kinda similar to the hospital joke from Airplane: "You better tell the captain to land as soon as we can, this woman has to be gotten to a hospital" "a hospital?! What is it?!" "Its a big building with patients, but that's not important right now" lmao

I love everything about Nielsen and Kennedy using their 1950s actor voices to say 1970s slang like "gas" and "I can dig it." Even Nielsen's pronunciation of "The Village *People"* sounds like he's doing Chekov. Priceless.

See what a good actor is George Kennedy. On the day of shooting this scene, he had come down with pneumonia and he was so ill that he couldn't even walk. To make sure the scene was shot, director Peter Segal had him sit on a bar stool for his entire part in the scene.

0:50 That joke works better as “Cigarette?” “Yes, it is.” “Yes, I know” is what you’d say after someone _tells_ you it’s a cigarette, not after someone _asks_ you if it’s a cigarette. Sometimes they get it right and sometimes they don’t. Back in the TV series _Police Squad_ they usually got it wrong but in the movies they sometimes got it right. Not here though

@felicity47116 жыл бұрын
It doesn’t help your confusion that they did the joke wrong. He _asked_ “Cigarette?” (as in “Would you like a cigarette?”) so her response should have been “Yes, it is” (as if he had asked “Is this a cigarette?”)
@diamondgeezertunes5 жыл бұрын
Well a leaf and cigarette from the tobacco plant of the south has a double meaning you see , to say Cigarette to a blond hot female meant “Do you want to try for babies now “ .. she obviously said yes and hence that look to the camera (the fourth wall)....
