Some observations: per minute 5:00, all illustrations are by Johnstone Metzger, the book's author, except for six by Nate Mercel, as detailed on page 3 -- which makes this an even more impressive tome. Also, Patrons convert arcane casters into divine casters, versus being "for clerics". Useful to cite that casters can cast spells of higher level than them as a ritual spell.

I thought that it looked like Nate Marcel! Love that guy's stuff, especially in The Clay that Woke.

@@QuestingBeast Additionally, at 5:13 the illustration is by Sidney Sime, from one of Lord Dunsany's books. The caption (removed in this book) was "Romance comes down out of hilly woodlands"

Also noteworthy info: If you buy the book in print without the pdf, you can email the author at: johnstone (dot) metzger (at) gmail (dot) com and he'll give you the pdf for free.

Thanks for the heads up about this. This and The Nightmares Underneath will be really useful to mine for my own campaign setting :)

I think I'll go ahead and order one of these. It would definitely shake up some d&d games.

Is there an effect table in making your own spells or are you supposed to do that yourself

So this works with Maze Rats and Knave? Would this work with B/X Advanced or BX Essentials?
@Klovember6 жыл бұрын
Yes. Only a small portion of the book is dedicated to "The Nightmares Underneath" with the rest being a giant magical sandbox for OSR games.

Hi Ben, great review as always. Just saw that you made wrote an adventure for the Spire of Quetzel book in Forbidden Lands. Are you going to do any videos on that system? I love the game and am eager to run it at some point.
