For as ancient as this game is, it doesn't look half bad. The smoke effects are particularly impressive. Plus, full on cockpit camera with actual articulation of the arms and wheel. Color me impressed. Physics seem a lil wonky, though. Then again, even Gran Turismo of this time period had cars flying through the air for seemingly no reason.

wasn't there an interview with tony stewart where he said something like "we didn't have enough cautions this week" and "we should just get a figure 8 circuit" or something like that anyway that's what the 3rd race was or like monaco 1996 where only THREE cars finished the race

The determination to show off so many variants on how this track can go is amazing. Ever considering doing a review of Fantasy Tracks across all the EA Sports games (maybe including Suzuka, which was real, but wasn't in the Cup Series apart from exhibition races)?

7:25 yeah, that’s about the only thing Thunder 2004 had that was real buggy. You could barely hit a couple of cars, and automatically get a DNF. It is actually not in any of the other games that came after it.

Alternative video for pain: 500 laps (or more) at the LA Coliseum in iRacing in the Next Gen, with 59 AI opponents. LA traffic simulator.

@@PaperBanjo64 exactly! So you can imagine how bad it was with 60! Like I said, traffic simulator and a cautionfest. And when I tried without cautions, any kind of wreck blocked the whole track and then you had to either wait for cars to de-spawn or try and ram through it and see if you make it (with damage turned off of course). Tried with F1 cars too, which was worse since they're even longer and if you do a rolling start the pace car actually passes the back of the field immediately, so I recommend a standing start, lol.

Here’s an idea: All 400 laps at Dodge Raceway Stadium in NASCAR 2005 Chase for the Cup. That track is the pinnacle of fun in that game. If Martinsville is the best track in 04, then Dodge Raceway Stadium is the best track in 05. Not to mention, that track is based on Bowman Gray Stadium, the same track that NASCAR will race at in the Busch Clash.

I’ve done that at the Daytona Beach race, minus the barrels, just say my car at interesting places, and wound up with, I believe 12 cars finishing the race.

After Phlip withem's championship he makes a surprise return to race at Martinsville after 3 races in the spring fall and spring races he went undefeated with race 3 setting the record for most cautions in a race after that he disappeared never seen behind the wheel as he went back fielding Tony walkers 112 car

Clearly take a rest king, you’ve earned it after 1500 laps of Martinsville. But if you wanted to up the ante I’d like to see how many cars you can wreck out with the barrel trick. You may even knock them all out before the race ends

somehow on one of my ps2 memory cards i have a nt2004 save that has a lap record of like 9 seconds at martinsville. its from back in 2019 i think so i dont remember at all how it happened and i only discovered it last year. must be a glitch lol.

So, I based this setup off one I found on GameFAQs, and I'm not totally sure if I even adjusted anything on it. Transmission: Manual Tire Pressure: 17 psi Downforce: max out both settings Front and rear spring: 55% Wedge: -0.5 turns Gears: Preset 2 that's the career mode setup I used.

I weighed my options on that one. I actually thought that would be easier because it would downshift for me pretty much every time, giving me more acceleration on exit. Conversely, it would hurt fuel mileage.

WhatiFRacing sent me his settings to get me started. Use PCSX2 version 1.6.0 and enable "alpha stencil" to get rid of weird lines on screen. Beyond that upscaling is up to your system's abilities.

Does anyone know if modding a PAL PS2 to be able to play NTSC Games stops it from being able to play PAL games? Or does it simply "unlock" the ability to do that? Cause it would be a pain in the ass to get a NTSC PS2 in good condition, a good price and from a trustworthy seller.
