Absolutely one of the best groups I have ever heard! Miss their sound.

Here we have one of the greatest bluegrass bands ever. They are just about the only group that vocally can fully retain the lonesome mountain sound while still being smooth as silk in a fully modern way.

They are Carol Lee Cooper and the Opry Singers, they sang backup for all the acts. Carol Lee is the daughter of Wilma Lee Cooper.

Excuse me for asking, but what about the crowd of African-American folks standing up in the back area? Are they part of the show, or were they just not allowed to sit with the white folks? I'm NOT trying to start a controversy here so PLEASE don't waste your time and mine by telling me I'm some sort of racist or that I need to wake up and smell the coffee, etc. I'm just curious. That's it. That's all. By the way, this group excels. They are wonderful.

Geraldo Hynes You’re NOT excused for asking such a stupid question and for making such an idiotic assumption. Obviously ALL you see is color. It’s actually a privilege to be able to sit on the stage of the Grand Ol’ Opry, especially while it’s being aired on television. I’m gonna have to ask you to leave, sir. We don’t allow racists in the comment section.

I was often a guest at the Opry and worked there for a time, back stage is by invitation, pew seating is first come, first serve, no racial profiling, decent people there

The picture is so fuzzy, you can barely make out the people in the background, but all I can make out is White people.

Those of you who have never worked The Opry, or who have never been in attendance may wonder about Geraldo Hynes comments below. It has always been tradition that other artists on the show, known pickers/singers who were in attendance, but not on the bill, or other "SPECIAL GUESTS" were allowed onstage access. However, I do wonder why this person focused solely upon what is referred to as "African American folks" and not inquiring about why any other "racial group" was standing in the same place. If that isn't racial profiling, I don't know what is.

I just noticed a crowd of people...didn't even look at color. I've seen this show now and again through the years, and have seen people behind the stage, so wasn't surprised by that. It wouldn't have occurred to me to think that they weren't permitted to sit in the audience. What an unusual question!
