Pure magic. The cover version has always succeeded when it sounds like it would be performer's own song. The War On Drugs and The National made the best versions to this collection.

I fucking nigh on worship the National, and I've always felt that (stylistically) they we're heading down a certain route. It can't be summed up or defined in simple genre terms. Its just "The National sound" whatever that may be. But I heard this fucking epic cover and it just dropped my whole prerequisite on it's fucking head. The National ARE and CONTINUE to be outstanding. It's as if they're sailors floating on a sea of sound, and long may they reign.

It can only be a cover once, just different versions. There is no such thing as a cover of a cover. There is the original, and different covers. Cover of a cover makes it seems like the 3rd version is related to the first cover. It is not. They are all just covers of the original.
