This deserves an individual vinyl release with a gate-fold sleeve & booklet about the making of it. It would have been nice to see it on Record Store Day & perhaps it would have attracted more folk to the "Day of the Dead" Hope 4AD distribute sufficient copies through UK. There was 2 movie halls full in Glasgow, Scotland for the Fare Thee Well show so demand should be pretty high & vinyl sales are rising here. The project is also introducing artists who many might not have come across before & perhaps to some other 4AD releases. Now I am going to play again......let my inspiration flow. Thanks to Robert Hunter without whom ........doesn't bare thinking about.

Great track! Love that vibraphone at 1:58f.. Dug the occasional Abbey Road feel too. Great choice to get original on 4:53f. (they could've done it sooner even). And what guitar tone on 7:00f.!! (missed opportunity at 9:38 for the drums to unhinge a bit.) That synth at 10:30 and percussion afterwards---killer! And what a great choice to drop into the 'That's it for the Other One' for the percussion + symph jam!

Interesting that this is clearly a tribute to the often-denigrated original album version in everything about the arrangement & feeling of it...I like it, nicely done
@awenindoe8 жыл бұрын
Very true. I guess it is easier for some hardcore loyalists (read 'stuck up') to ease their restrictions for a cover version. In my opinion this is better than the album version; the orchestration is much more complex and layered and it does terrapin justice. That said i can't ever get over some of the cosmic terrapins of '77 and '78
@CatLegoDiver8 жыл бұрын
I agree. Actually more interestingly layered and dramatically presented than the original studio version which is still a standout in my books.

i was going to comment it was too much of a "note for note" cover, which it seemed to be for a few minutes, but they made it their own yet stayed true to TS. outstanding. a hint of the Other One at 11:30, too!
