Ahhh, we were there and enjoyed the new material. But having heard the lyric video single and knowing all the words now, I like it so much better!

Memorize the bathwater, memorize the air There will come a time I wanna know I was here Names on the doorframes, inches and ages Hand prints in concrete at the softest stages I don't know why I don't try harder I feel like throwing towels into water Giving down to nothing, everything the matters Fever flashes eyelashes, untracked patterns Humility and history, chemistry and panic Swimsuits in the windows of electric minivans I don't know why I don't try harder I've been going down some, some strange water Move forward now, there's nothing to do Can't turn around, I can't follow you Your coat's in my car, I guess you forgot it It's crazy the things we let go It finally hits me, a mile's drive The sky is leaking, my windshield's crying I'm feeling sacred, my soul is stripped Radio's painful, the words are clipped The grief it gets me, the weird goodbyes My car is creeping, I think it's dying I'm pulling over until it heals I'm on a shoulder of lemon fields Where was I even reading from I keep going back and forth I think now I'm allowed to see Didn't know how sad to be be Memorize the bathwater, memorize the air There will come a time I wanna know I was here Names on the doorframes, inches of ages Hand prints in concrete at the softest stages I don't know why I don't try harder I feel like throwing towels into water Move forward now, there's nothing to do Can't turn around, I can't follow you Your coat's in my car, I guess you forgot it It's crazy the things we let go It finally hits me, a mile's drive The sky is leaking, my windshield's crying I'm feeling sacred, my soul is stripped Radio's painful, the words are clipped The grief it gets me, the weird goodbyes My car is creeping, I think it's dying I'm pulling over until it heals I'm on a shoulder of lemon fields The grief it gets me, the weird goodbyes My car is creeping, I think it's dying I'm pulling over until it heals I'm on a shoulder of lemon fields Letra: geniuslyrics.net/the-national/weird-goodbyes/

Such a great song, and the version with Bon Iver is even better (perfect collab).

I really love the national, but man they are no Live Band.

They are absolutely incredible live. Just saw them in Harrisburg 3 days ago front and center. I've been to hindreds of shows and they were incredible. Are you trolling because I think I've seen this same comment more than once?

@@dreamoutloud8530 No not at all but based on this and some other performances I’ve seen, I really think they are not as good as for example Bon Iver. And maybe other people feel the same so that there are some comments stating this.

They are are doing new material here, and it takes a while to get that stuff down. Lots of bands hold off on doing new material live for that reason; it takes guts to roll out multiple unreleased songs on a tour, especially mellower stuff. I think they played one song they had never performed before, and another two nights later. Trying stuff out. I might agree that the new stuff doesn't have the polish of the well established songs yet, and any album has some songs that work better live than others -- but this was one of the best live shows I've ever been at.

@@jimwilliams3816 Maybe you’re right, concert’s are like wine on a vacation, they’re great when you’re there but not as great when enjoyed at home. Nice for you that you had such a pleasant experience.

@@dirkdigglerk9657 Yeah, no question that watching on a screen is not the same. And yeah, there was a sharp contrast between the new stuff and something they were well versed in, like Bloodbuzz Ohio. It was fun to hear, but not nearly as tight, and some of the new melodies and arrangements were hard to define at this point.
