In the 1700s, the Nawabs of Arcot, also called the Nawabs of Carnatic, controlled a large area in present-day Tamil Nadu. They ruled from Arcot and built the grand Chepauk Palace in Chennai. Who were these Nawabs and how did they lose their territories to the British?

In odisha british applied the same "doctrine of lapse" law when Bir Surendra Sai of sambalpur kingdom was denied the throne because he was not a direct descendent of the king ... and the began the war with the lords of sambalpur where the he cut off lord woodbridge's head and mounted it on his sword atop a hill in barapahad for all to see
