Sure you figured out after the fact, but the attempted 3s goes up and then down in the late 90s because the line was brought closer to the basket as an experiment. As an attempt to counteract decreased scoring and pace.

Steph is a great player. Best shooter ever. However, I’d argue that analytics and the better understood value of the 3 point shot has had more impact than Steph. I didn’t find this video showing any real evidence that he effected the change. Just that he was there for it. The warriors winning has a lot to do with embracing those analytics and being teamed with Klay Thompson another great three point shooter. The system works and people emulate the system, but the heat went to four finals with that method too. Hell the magic made a final in 09’ surrounding Dwight Howard with three point shooters. Also, the trend has jus even more threes before Steph even came into the league. Again, he’s amazing but it’s not like everyone looked at him and started shooting more threes. It was already a trend.
