Another story line in that Raptors run is that VanVleet's son was born during the ECF and Dad VanVleet balled the hell out like he had been born again for the rest of those playoffs.

Freddy V had an incredible storyline that year. You’d see moments of greatness with him coming off the bench for Lowry all year and him taking over games during the season. Everybody knew he had it in him, but pulling it together in the finals against Golden State was legendary

One can never underestimate the trade Raptors made for Marc Gasol at the trade deadline in 2019, he was ESSENTIAL to guarding Embiid and others through the playoffs.

Lol imagine crediting a playoff run to a guy who averaged less than 12 ppg during the playoffs… and during the regular season, less than 8 ppg. His brother Paul Gasol is already a no name flop, and even he is the better of the two, lmao.

@@smh457He would have been the second greatest basketball player in NBA history if he stayed. Kawhi Leonard put a curse on himself by leaving a championship team, because he could have been better than Wilt Chamberlain. He already proved he was way better than Lebron in the 2014 finals since Kawhi had no all stars and the Heat had Wade Lebron and Bosh. But I’m surprised the Raptors fans didn’t throw stuff at him when he returned to Toronto instead they gave him a big video tribute which was dumb.

After Game 2 with the series tied at 1 apiece, Nick Nurse spoke to the team prior to leaving for the Bay Area. He talked about going on the road looking to earn a split. Kawhi reportedly blurted out, "f*** that, we're taking both games," Just imagine the boost of confidence to the team hearing your #1 guy say that. And they did take both games.

The 2019 Toronto Raptors were legit one of the most complete teams in NBA history. The depth, the talent, the cohesiveness, the star power, the coaching; they had it all, and they used it to topple a dynasty. It's a shame so many idiots think they only won because Golden State was injured.

To be fair, Golden State was nearing legendary status and solidified it if they won. Should have, would have, could have, yeah but it would be nice if GS actually had a full healthy roster with KD and Klay. It's literally if Pippen and Rodman got injured and left Jordan all by himself but modern.

2019 Raptors were an absolute powerhouse, many salty Americans will still try to play it down but just look at that rotation, I mean when you have guys like Ibaka, VanVleet, Norm Powell and even OG (Injured) coming off the bench you know you're stacked af. Kawhi, Siakam, Lowry, Gasol, Green starting 5, they had everything.

Being from Toronto 2019 was so memorable after years and years of Lebronto. On this side of the fence, the drama of bringing Kawhi in for Derozan for 1 year wasn't favorable for most of us but personally I always thought Derozan couldn't "finish the job" and I knew if Kawhi could stay healthy this was the only shot we'd have. Sure KD and Klay went down but I really think we still would've won regardless. And for the nay sayer's that say that's the only reason why we won, GS also won in 2015 when Kyrie and Love went down, ironic huh? That's how sports goes sometimes. BTW great job on the vid man....you will blow up soon with this quality of content dude!

@skynyrdjesus
@skynyrdjesus 3 ай бұрын
Yeah, that's going way too far. The Raptors weren't winning that series without injury. And there's two very big differences between those scenarios, Kyrie and Love didn't both get hurt in the Finals, and Warriors fans weren't actively cheering about it. Toronto fans went full blood and circuses for those injuries and it was kinda gross guys. Really showing your French there.
