That was not physical... the offensive player was simply trying to run by, but was bumping into defender who was quicker on his feet than him. As soon as the defender even remotely matched the offensive player's intensity, refs called foul to discourage strong defense.

It’s just weird because what you’re taught growing up doesn’t apply to the NBA. JB got beat to the spot and forced it anyway out of control….. if you don’t call charge there you can’t bail out an offensive player for initially being out of control, getting beat to the spot and stood up twice. This is why I don’t like the NBA rules as much defenders get punished and offensive players get bailed out. Prime Klay would stay step for step, hip to hip on guys and get 3 blocking fouls………

I thought getting clamped up meant having good clean defense !!!! ≥. Rewatch the clip, however many times it takes you and per the rules the defender is illegally defending the whole time until he finally gets called for shoving Jalen in the back with his hands and hips instead of protecting his own area and bracing for Jalen's contact. The clip literally starts with Jalen having to push off the defender since his jersey and shorts are being grabbed by him. Y'all really have never actually read the rulebook I swear. Bad reffing from the past all the way to even now have you confused.

I'm pretty sure the defender got called for the brief push in the back using his hand (at 0:09). Technically, it is a violation, but usually at the NBA level most defenders get away with it when it doesn't create a significant positional advantage, so if I'm not sure I would've made this call if I'm the ref. But their job probably looks easier than it is.

Would you wanna get fired for being a minute late to work? The amount of missed or bad calls in nba history are countless. Quit being so dramatic.

It was really eye opening when I went to my first game in person. They were bumping each other back and forth 1 on 1, SGA was leaning all the way into his defender any time he drove and off arm swatting like crazy. On TV it seems like they’re going 75% and there’s no contact, but it’s really extremely physical.

JB is constantly putting his hand under the ball (all nba players do this) It’s funny because we would always be called for a travel or double dribble if we did that even in middle school ball

I grew up playing in a different era for sure... The 80's and 90's were just different and not just in the NBA on the playground, at the Y, the the Rec center you name it... Dude I'd be bleeding in a pick up game easy happened more than once in fact...

That was actually a good call by the ref. A lot of yall are overlooking how the ref let them go through all of that contact, but only when the defender thrusted his hips into Jaylen did he actually blow the whistle, because thats a push, which is a foul
@luv3835

the physicality isnt really a big diffrence from the past generations in the playoffs or certain games. these guys are just knock down shooters and the spacing makes things look easier. lets be real only like 2-3 guys on the teams in the 90s could kinda shoot. most guys were slashers , rebounders and defenders/ Foulers lol
