While The Admiral was critical to the Spurs winning their first ever ring in 1999, by the time 2003 came around, he was more of a role player and wasn't a key part of them winning that ring. Same thing with Kawhi. Without him, the Spurs don't win the ring in 2014 but he only played a part in one championship out of 5. Realistically, the Spurs will always be known for their Big 3 and I don't think any true Spurs fan would ever expand that to a Big 4 or even Big 5.

If Michael is GOAT then Kobe should be a close second as he did everything that MJ did minus one ring but still the closest to achieving the same in having one three peat and a back to back streak of chips while someone like lebron only has 4 rings but also never won a three peat with one back to back. I disagree with no ring big 3 as 1) harden was a bench player so there was no big three at that time, we only count it today because harden became MVP player later in Houston and 2) Nash's Phoenix was basically one Robert Horry foul away from winning 2007 championship (let's be honest, the real final in 2007 was between Spurs and Suns in conference semis, both would defeat Utah in conf finals and Cavaliers in the finals)

Bro, I’m constantly arguing that point too, iggy having back spasms, draymond suspension and in that same game bogut blows out his knee (who was 2nd team all defense) it’s funny how the warriors were wiping the floor with the cavs up until all those injuries happened, yet people think it was lebron who brought them back!! It was injuries simple as that!!

Who exactly did the 2016 Warriors lose to injury besides Bogut?
@joshsalwen2 жыл бұрын
@@shauncameron8390 Steph’s knee wasn’t 100%, which is why he skipped Olympics. And Bogut was a big lose. Finally, Drey 1 game suspension hurt. Cavs were great, and they definitely deserve their championship, but the?year before, the Warriors beat the team they faced, and they deserve their too. I just think if you mention one set of issues, then be fair and mention the others.
@jonathanfan37092 жыл бұрын
Lebron beat 2 teams by 1 or 2 possesions in game 7s. Had a bubble championship where Miami lost 2 of their big 3 and had 2 rookies playing like 50 minutes a game and beat the thunders when KD ,russ and harden were only 23-24. The 2016 team were pretty even. Cavs had a more expensive roster, better bench and good vets. If you think about it it could easily have been 1-9 finals record.

I absolutely hated the thunder what if narrative. Harden was not the same player going into rockets and when he left. He blossomed under D’Antoni and played a form of basketball so centralized around him and extremist three point plays. Westbrook padded his stats - there is not an argument here, not hating, but Adams was boxing out for him to grab a rebound, that’s omega padding - on a borderline playoff team that didn’t have anything going for them once playoff hits, and honestly didn’t even exceed any expectations. I would at most call it a big 2. And had they stayed together, there will not be 3 MVPs.

Coming back from 3-1 is less impressive than winning in 6, is less impressive than winning in 5, is less impressive than sweeping. This narrative that losing the first 3/4 games of a series makes it a more impressive series win is dumb.

2:38 so No Ezeli, No Bogut, “Gotta start Varejao”=FULL HEALTH??? I don’t think so my guy. That was literally the reason the dubs went and got JaVale, Zaza AND David West that following off-season, and while Ezeli signed a contract with Portland, his injury was so severe he’s never been able to play an NBA game since those 2016 Finals. Not as bad as in 2019 when KD+Boogie were hurt prior to Klay dropping 30 in 3 quarters and holding Kawhi under 10pts, Dubs had a 5pt lead when Klay exited and Toronto’s momentum had down shifted. Had Klay(or if they signed Batum+Horford>KD) been healthy they would’ve won Game 6, but ofc nobody knows how Game 7 would’ve gone. But you try winning with Steph, Draymond, Quinn Cook, worn-down Iggy, worn-down Livingston, Alfonzo McKinnie, and Jonas Jerebko! Heck, even after 2016, they just needed a guy bigger than Barnes(6’8/220) that wouldn’t be bullied in the paint by bigger players, but still had athleticism to play on the perimeter. Dubs probably win as many if not more titles had they signed any two of Paul Millsap, Otto Porter, Al Horford, and/or Nic Batum that off-season, though ideally it would’ve been 1 of Batum/Porter and 1 of. Horford/Millsap. A Steph/Klay/Batum/Dray/Horford lineup is ridiculous, as would a Steph/Klay/Otto/Dray/Millsap lineup, but what knocked the 2016 Dubs was being down to Varejao and Barnes as your only healthy players taller than 6’6. It’s not like Millsap is a LeBron stopper, but Bron wouldve used up far more energy posting up Millsap/Horford than he did posting up Barnes/Varejao. Heck, Dubs would’ve won 2019 Game 6 had they had Andrew Wiggins instead of McKinnie, just bc after Klay/KD/Boogie were out, the only player on GSW capable of hitting a 3pt shot AND capable of driving to the rim was 6’3 Steph Curry. Toronto was begging Livingston, Dray, McKinnie, Jerebko, Cook and Iggy to shoot, and everytime Steph passed them the ball, a defender was 5-7ft away bc they didn’t respect the 3’s from _anyone_ but Steph, so they decided to sag off and force them to either take an open 3 or meet a defender as soon as their foot touched the elbow of the paint. 35yo 6’7/175lb Livingston, 35yo 6’5/210lb Iggy, 6’9/220lb Jerebko, 6’7/200lb McKinnie, 6ft/190lb Cook, and 6’6/230lb Draymond were all guys that can’t create for themselves on offense. Any of Wiggins, Batum, Porter, Millsap, and yes, KD, can do that. The 2019 Finals perfectly told the story of the Steph-Era Dubs: they have good-to-elite players at every position outside of a well rounded/2-way Big Wing. That’s how teams get to the playoffs. You either do it like Phoenix/GSW/2016 Atlanta/pre-Kawhi Spurs/etc where you have a good PG, SG, PF and C, but your SF is usually your 4th-5th guy. OR, you have a team that has a LeBron/PG13/Kawhi/Tatum/Ingram/KD/Jimmy Butler/Luka/etc. Those guys that are 6’7-6’9/230+(usually, KD+Giannis are taller but more rare ofc) that have the size to get an easy bucket inside at will combined with the athleticism, speed and ball skills to create their shot on the perimeter. That’s literally why GSW drafted Kuminga. That’s the reason GSW doesn’t really care too much about how much Andrew Wiggins makes, as his existence as a 26yo 6’7/200lb 2-way guy with a 7ft wingspan helps the “Big 3” of 34yo 6’3 Steph, 32yo 6’6 Klay and 32yo 6’6 Draymond. In a perfect world, Wiseman doesn’t get hurt last year and GSW trades him and a future 1st for Saddiq Bey, as the only thing better than one 6’7+, 2-way wing in his early 20’s is two. Steph/Klay/Wigs/Bey/Dray would be better than any non-KD dubs lineup in the last 20 years.

Basically swapping out players from a 5-4 legit superstar to make a big 3 is ok? So the Celtics and Spurs were ok to have a big 3 eventhough they had more legit superstars but GS who had an extra superstar (Durant) isn't? I clearly saw what you did with this. If it's ok to argue the Spurs and Celtics to have their core big 3 since your criteria is longevity then why doesn't it apply to GS? One can make the case that GS's core big 3 hasn't changed as well for almost a decade.
