But you’ve got to understand is that Tracy mcGrady wanted stardom in his career. As he wants to be the face of a franchise. It would’ve been interesting, but AI was the man of Philadelphia. If he would’ve stayed with Vince, I guarantee you, they were the Shaq and Kobe in the finals 2001.

@286mic i agree with your comment but i also think part of the unwillingness to shine as a duo with carter was the fact he was there for two years already and thatvwas his cousin. Grabted he didnt even know till later but that makes an odd dynamic for a young man who hasnt matured quite yet...his ego might if made him insecure ab Carter taking 1 spot

@@286mic I mean yeah who knows if they would be good teammates but at the same time it at least means he wouldn’t have had the injuries he did. I think AI would have eventually been okay with being 2nd option. It honestly would have taken the burden of having to score so much off him would have also helped his career as far as longevity goes.

What the younger people don’t understand is context of the era. Everyone wants to be the a super team and play together to win and rack up championships today. Though, During the 2000’s every player wanted to be Jordan and carry their own team to prove their greatness against the other best player best individually. We as the fans also loved to see it. People today just don’t appreciate the underdog story like they used.

The only super teams to have won are lebron's and Currys. Their have been so Manu attempted super teams that have failed, so stop acting like superteams rule the league. I know T Mac was out in the 2009 NBA Playoffs, since he was on the Rockets roster and finished the season in Houston, technically, he got out of the first round that year. EX: Caron Butler had surgery on is patella tendon and didn't play in the 2011 playoffs and he has a ring with the Mavs. Technically, TMac won 4 playoff series. 2009 first round vs Trail Blazers. 2013 first round vs Lakers. 2013 second round vs Warriors. 2013 Western Conference Finals vs Grizzlies. Just because you didn't finish the season and you didn't play in the playoffs, if you were still on the roster until season's end and your team advances, technically, you moved on to the next round.

stop lying. Glen Glenwald (GM) gave Tracy everything he needed as a Raptors, I was there and watched him grew up with VC. The team was getting better each and every year once Camby left and Hakeem left, so it was about building the core since we had two super stars. The only thing we asked of McGrady as a Toronto fan, was to share the spotlight with Carter because at that time, Vince was getting international recognition for his high flying dunks that resembles a lot like MJ (and they both were from North Carolina), so to ask Carter to not be the leader of this team and give it to his cousin that plays the exact same position is kinda out of the question. Of course, T-Mac got extremely good at Orlando meanwhile Carter was not happy, but it still doesn't change the fact that he choose his own destiny when the Toronto Raptors organization was doing everything a championship organization was supposed to do in order to win.

I've always been a T-Mac fan. He's always been my favourite player. As a European, I stayed up until late at night just to watch him play as often as I could. In most cases, I would go to bed for a short sleep with a smile on my face, but other times, particularly in playoff time, I would go to bed frustrated and disappointed. To me, he is a legend, but after all these years, I have to admit that there is such a thing as a winning mentality. Duncan had it. Dirk had it. Iverson had it. Kobe had it. T-Mac didn't.
@solomonnichols2969

I would counter that. All his averages were higher in the playoffs versus the regular season. As a TMac fan, how many playoff series was he in where you actually thought his team would win? I’m a huge fan. And I can only think of one time where I thought it was realistic.
@AMGU2B

@@solomonnichols2969 You got a good point over there. And don't get me wrong, even when he had the advantage in Orlando, realistically his team shouldn't have had such advantage to begin with. But he could have closed that series. Similar when his Rockets began stealing the home-court advantage to the Mavs. It just slipped away from his hands. Not saying this discredits him as a player, he was phenomenal. But when I look at it in retrospect, he lacked the big game when it mattered the most.
@solomonnichols2969
@solomonnichols2969 Ай бұрын
@@AMGU2B I was mainly just countering the “it” factor you mentioned. It’s hard to succeed when the second best player on the team is Darrell Armstrong. Or Drew Gooden. His teams never went into a series as the better seed. Post Kobe/Shaq, Kobe didn’t get out the first round until Gasol came. An all star. AI had one real run in the playoffs. Other than that I believe he only made it out the first round one other time. Dirk was MVP and number 1 seed and got beat by the 8 seed. Duncan is the outlier. All I’m saying is TMac had it. His supporting cast did not.

Its pretty simple, its not a one man sport. People love to say "carried his team" but thats never true. No one ever carries a team solo, you need team defense, you need screens and picks, you need rebounds, you need a good coach, etc etc list goes on. Just cause you score the most doesnt mean the rest of the team does nothing lol. Iverson gets all the credit for his teams too but Snow hit some bigger shots in their finals run. And Mutombo wss a crazy good defense anchor. Tracy's prime was in Orlando, he didn't have the right teammates and his co-star was always injured. A one man show will never ever win in the nba, we have 30 years of modern era that proves that. You put the clamps on that player, now what? Lol. If injuries plague you, your teammates and just have sub par teammates period, its gonna be a hard time trying to achieve anything. i remember that Pistons series, they never got another rebound after Pistons figured out what to do defensively. Tracy had some good moments in Houston but had the same issues as in Orlando, then once the big injuries hit him and Yao, Houston wasn't gonna win anything. Tracy's body was already worn out by then and career was basically over. Crazy for his career to be already over by 27. Its important to have more than one good player and put it all on him, just like a lot of other stars who never won anything, he never had the right pieces around him. Good video, brought back some good memories 👍.

@@MFjaYWiLL TMac choked a 3-2 lead in 2007, and a 3-1 lead in 2003... There's no excuses when you make the playoffs. No matter how bad your team is. If LeBron lost in the first round in all the years he had his Finals losses, I would be saying the same thing with Bron 🤷‍♂️

He was an AWSOME talent. However, he was also a part of the problem. The 2009 season Houston gets past the first round without him. The irony? Humm?🤔

It was never bad luck, it was bad habit. They way he landed from not only dunking but on jumpers as well, all of his weight is focused solely on his left foot.
