Funner Fact: Antoine Walker(&Willie Jones,played at Loyola Marymount)were supposed to go to St Rita and not Mt Carmel. He took the entrance exam that everyone who is going to attend a Catholic HS has to take and did so poorly (scored around 8 out of 100) that before his Freshman year,Coaches at St Rita said he should take summer classes to be on somewhat better academic footing going into HS. Now, these summer sessions weren't extremely rigorous, the coaches told him he'd have maybe a half hour in the classroom and after that he could just go hoop in the gym. Antoine (& family) weren't happy about this and Mt Carmel (bastion of academic excellence 😬) said Come on down, you don't need to do anything like that. True Story so help me God. I was a year older than Antoine (&McNabb) and everyone was excited as can be that he was coming to St Rita. McNabb wasn't anything too special at hoops but Football...there was no doubt he would play in the NFL.

I remember him from his Kentucky days. He was a solid guy. It was very hard to watch his NBA career though. He lost his edge when the Celtics paid him that first big deal and his discipline went out of the window then he gained weight. Some guys just become complacent once they become wealthy.
@squallstrife-v5g15 күн бұрын
He was ahead of his time. He would be more appreciated in today's positionless basketball.

Maybe so, but as a boston guy... i toughed it through the dark era of the 90s-00s. so many horrible teams. And AW was one of the lowlights of that era (the worst will always be Rick Pitino). About as empty as an empty stats guy ever gets. he'd do that stupid shimmy when we were still down 37 points. yuck. I mean maybe, a motivated AW on a better team would be an asset, and maybe this is just how players like him have to operate when in a dismal situation. so I'll cut him slack in that regard.
