@DOGPISSS6665 жыл бұрын
@KRISPIRACY thing is, they also payed you for your time served. NCAA doesn't really offer a free education so much as they mandate it. And seeing how a fair amount of guys for for the one required year and then drop out, the free education really doesn't mean anything. Less than nothing when you consider that they have to give up a year of potential earnings to get it.

A lot of people think that the athletes shouldn't complain because they get free tuition. That's pennies on the dollar in comparison to the money that universities make off these young men and women. While I thank you for your service, you chose to join the military. Because of the way rules are set up, they dont have much choice in going to college to play for free vs going straight to the NBA to make money for themselves and their family. Dont think that just because someone's struggle is different from your struggle that you had it worse. God bless brother, and again thank you for your service.

Jabren Harris look at the crowds at the big 3 versus the average power conference college team, the reason colleges have such good fan bases is because most of them have been around for nearly a hundred years. I wish this was true, but the NCAA makes money because of the school loyalty fans primarily. People cheer for Duke, North Carolina, Michigan State, et cetera. Four coaches from high-profile programs were arrested for allegedly steering recruits to certain institutions in exchange for cash last year. After prosecutors and federal officials announced the arrests, NCAA president Mark Emmert put together a commission to study men’s basketball, led by former U.S. secretary of state and Stanford University provost Condoleezza Rice . Almost all of the policy alterations the NCAA adopted recently came from that commission’s recommendations. The fact that Rich Paul is the only name that came to anyone's mind speaks volumes. Could this prevent that 1 notable agent from getting collegiate athlete clients? Sure. But the whole point to this was to prevent a situation like the one mentioned above where shady deals are taking place leading to FBI investigations. An uncertified agent is more likely to do shady deals or at least it's more likely to get caught. Rich Paul is the exception not the rule. On a case by case basis the NCAA could easily decide to make exceptions if Rich Paul ever even wanted to enter that space. Just another case of over simplifying an issue in order to play to a base. There is no racial component. The draft process of the NFL and NBA is different from MLB or NHL. Due to that fact the NCAA has no choice but to treat the athletes differently based on the fact that the leagues they intend to go to have different rules.

The NCAA is a perfect example of why competition in business is good for the workers and consumers. The NCAA has a monopoly on athletics because they are, essentially, the sole lifeline to the NFL and NBA. So they have no interest in being anything but selfish, controlling, and whatnot towards the players. Now I dont go so far as to say student-athletes get nothing; their education, which is very expensive, is oft paid for. But the NCAA takes this fact and goes too far overboard with the control they exercise over students. And they can because, again, they understand that the road to the NBA and NFL predominantly goes through the NCAA and college athletics. The NCAA needs competition, an organization that doesnt bother with education towards a high priced degree they may never use and instead focuses on bringing in quality post high school players and gives them all the benefits the NCAA doesnt allow them to have and can ultimately help them transition to the NBA or NFL. Think college ball without the college. They may even get paid a wage (not close to NFL level but still good), unlike the NCAA and can get endorsement deals, unlike the NCAA.
