I like your philosophical approach to daily life. Your videos are very inspiring and you always convey a forgiving message, to avoid building up pressure on your viewers to „live an awesome life“. Very nice and calm. I love it! That sleeping out idea is actually quite attractive. I think I will try it out.

Awesome video MJ. You did good. You're getting pretty good with that drone! :) As for "one thing I'd like to do that I've been putting off?" I just did it a few weeks ago. Having been raised in L.A., I've wanted to drive down U.S. 101 through WA and OR to where it meets up with SR-1 in CA, for decades. Since I now live in Seattle, and since I am not working these days, I figured now was the time, so I did it. I spent 10 days driving and taking pictures, stopping when and where I wanted to, and couldn't be happier. And I'm glad you've found a way to "decompress"; I completely understand the need.

I live in urban suburban area, 1.2 million people jammed into a small county outside a major city. I love to get away to the woods and along the river for a while when I can as well. Good to reset your mind and soul. It gets harder as you get older with the aches and pains and less flexibility but is nice. You edit your video’s extremely well.

Thanks for your honesty about this experience. I too would be scared to spend the night alone out there. My current "thing" I have been putting off is doing the 5 boro bike tour because I am from Rochester NY and am very comfortable in my mid-sized manageable and less chaotic city. I think this will be the year I take the train down and do the ride. Thanks for your content, you are great at what you do!

Hi Mary Jane .. I spent most of my life in Los Angeles & New York City & now live in New Mexico surrounded by the Sandia mountains & desert. I love the many adventures offered by both & enjoy the tranquility always aware of & respectful of the wildlife .. it's their territory. Lovely video. Thanks 😊

Your editing and filmaking skills are incredible. I felt such a sense of peace watching this, especially in the quiet moments. I live right across the river from Manhattan in NJ and love how green our area of the country is right outside the cities. I need to embrace it more, I haven't in a while. Thank you for the reminder.

That's why I love living in Staten Island. I am close to Manhattan but I can get to walk in the woods everyday. Check out Conference House Park if you ever visit Staten Island. Beautiful place, it is a combination of forest and beach and also some historic buildings. There are lots of Bald Eagles and Seals there too. BTW, one of my best friends lives in his minivan. He's very happy, and very healthy, he takes his showers in a gym.

Yep I've heard Staten Island does have the most trail walks of NYC. Though Manhattan, Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens do also have a few trail walks.

Hi Mary, I hope you had a good experience in leaving the city behind you, with all it's constant noise, and artificial surfaces, so that the senses can re-adjust to a more natural rhythm and sensory stimulation. I know that when I have stayed in our largest city here, I became aware of just how much background noise is being constantly generated, because I was using my noise cancelling headphones at the time, which was able to shut a lot of this sound out! (just try flicking on the noise cancelling switch ,without the music playing, to experience this surprising effect where you are!). And then there are all the other little sensory cues that we barely think about, which do add up to a certain level of disconnection, and irritation, over long periods of time. And even though my normal home environment, is still very far removed from what I'm talking about... I do still occasionally feel the need, to escape even that! (but I accept, that maybe I'm just sensitive that way!). As for the video itself, it was an interesting combination of using long periods of silence, inbetween subtle musical interludes, which suddenly hit me at one point. I was suddenly a bit lost, as though I was unaware that I was watching a video at one point, and I had to try and figure out what had happened. I'm still in two minds about the effect of this, but I think it was an interesting experiment, which I think at least partially worked to good effect. But I must admire the way the drone was used, while negotiating the forest track... it was a very effective piece of footage, and would have been quite tricky to oversee, and get right!. Once again, it wasn't obvious, but that's really what made it work so well!.

The night you had in the car reminded me of that one night where I slept in a bivouac in Santa Caterina di Valfurva (SO). it was a sort of winter room of the Pizzini Hut, that was close in that season, at the feet of Gran Zebrù. It was November, and the temperature inside the bivouac were about -8°C. But then, in the morning I woke up to chase the sunrise and then it was all worth it. As you said, someone need these kind of experiences to feel alive. Answering your final question: well, there's a lot of things, but right now my knee us injuries (again 😂) so the most heavy things have to wait a little bit more. PS I don't even know why I'm writing in English as I'm Italian as you are, but... whatever 🤣

Orlando oddly is full of state parks and green spaces. You really don’t go that far for a taste of the outdoors although I am not a fan as my allergies suck. I tend to stay inside mostly. But it’s there. I literally go into my backyard to find green and actually a state park is right in my backyard so it’s easy.

You're very lucky. In my region there isn't any nature or quiet spot. You need to drive very far for that. Nature pretty much isn't accessible to me. I think I see real nature once a year or so during a holiday.

Fascinating to hear a drastically different perspective on the experience of discomfort. I have a tendency to make up for any discomfort I experienced, often times to the point of mania. Like last year when I was locked down in Shanghai, for about 3 months afterwards, I had a cheeseburger at least once per day because I was denied that comfort.
