Being a conspiracy junkie I used to get overwhelmed by the state of our society, the state of our ‘leadership’, the state of the church, the state of the world that it made me want out of the large metropolitan area I was living in. I got the chance to move out into the middle of no where Texas about five years ago in order to ‘prep’. Five years in and all that rush, anxiety, frustration, fear, mental noise, and distraction has slowly melted away into a quiet hum of chirping birds and crickets. I started growing a little patch of veggies and some sweet jasmine I love to stick my face in. I started looking for homesteading channels and I’ve come across some great ones but for some reason, y’alls channel has become my favorite. There is great info here! There is so much love and life i feel watching you and your family maintain roots and refuge that it has inspired me to branch out and expand (a little at a time). When you get away from the noise and the haste, you start really being able to hear God clearly. It’s like a father telling a child “shhhh. It’s ok. You’re gonna be fine.” I want to be able to creat a garden that will feed my family and make me giggle like your garden does to you! By the grace of God I will. Thank you for sharing everything that you do! The world is blessed by being able to see what it looks like when you trust God and allow Jesus to walk you through whatever you have going on.. which is what I believe this channel does. Thank you guys! ❤️

Last week I started my first few plants! I have lots of Salad Greens and some calendula growing. Once June comes round I'll have a Black Cherry Tomato plant to plant. This is my first little garden and I'm building it on our back porch in containers. I live in Upstate New York, so I've had to be very mindful of mother nature's mood swings this spring. The day after I got my seeds in some starting pots IT SNOWED!! Mood swings aside, my starters have been doing great so far and I'm excited to move them outside when they get just a bit bigger. 😃

Back in the 70s and early 80s when my Dad planted 30+ acres of garden each year, one of my jobs was to weed/hoe. We had lots of morning glories which were prolific in the gardens... One of the main weeds!!! It still boggles my mind to see those seeds for sale in stores and hear that people purposely plant them!! I lived in southern VA then and now I am in NC just east of RALEIGH. I have two small raised beds and just planted 8 tomato plants on Wed. One of our dogs dug up two of them Thurs. I think Bubba smelled the eggs I put in. I planted like you showed how. My son actually planted most of them as I am disabled. I pray the rest survive the dogs! Have a great weekend.

that storm went through here in Deep East Tx too. It woke me with all the thundering and lightening it lite up the sky. OMG all those plants wow, my garden pales greatly when compared to yours hun. I have 6 areas that aren't all really raised beds any more, an they have composted in place over time, I had pulled fallen logs from the woods to box areas for beds, using wood chips for mulching. I can get composted moo poo and one of my beds is just that, and wow the fat worms that are in there now. It is so encouraging to move some dirt and huge worms pop outa the ground to show me how much they love living there. It sure makes me smile to see them wriggling like they do. Oh my cat just a few weeks ago had 7 kittens, their eyes are open and they have come out of the closet to the side of my bed into my schnauzer's bed, haha he is so cool he just lays next to it at my feet where i sit on the side of the bed, so I have the cutest lil faces looking up at me as i sit on the side of my bed. I like getting to see your property, the back yard where your kids play ground is. Such a pleasant place to be Jess, you are a blessed woman. I appreciate your daily vids. My dtr has an old phone she is going to give me so I can begin recording some content so I can grow my YT channel. I am looking forward to it. I bless you sweetheart. I go to Dallas on Monday for my appt to meet with the heart surgeon and set up my open heart. I covet your prayers sweetheart, I have to admit it is scary. I just love YT so many precious people, who genuinely seem to care. Many lifting me up in prayer, it touches my heart so, my face keeps leaking as the tears keep flowing. Bless you hun. keep up the good work.

You and 1 other vlog family have convinced me that this is the life for me. So what did I do? I bought18 acres and started the process of transitioning my life. 1 problem, the only thing that I've ever successfully grown in soil are tomatoes and peppers; which basically grow themselves. There's not 1 houseplant in my house because I've killed them all. Soooooo, wish me luck.

I have a garden situation where some of my tomatoes I'm trying to go up a trellis and some are in cages. I live in Tucson, AZ so the issue HERE is how amazingly hot it gets early - which affects ability to set fruit early. At first I was thinking all of them should be pruned of suckers fully. NOW I think maybe I should let at least SOME suckers go on the plants that are in the cages - because they will have more of a chance of their fruit early then. Also it could help with cooling if the plants are bushier. But, I'm still torn, not sure I want the plants to get out of control... What do you think? We each have our own climate challenges...

Jess, do you use chemical-free straw around your vegetables? I’ve heard that treated straw can kill your veggies and leach those chemicals into the soil. Just asking about your experience/knowledge. I so appreciate all your videos. This is my first go-to channel when I need info. God Bless all your efforts. I pray for blessings on your farm and family on a regular basis:)

I can't remember if I have told you about this or not... forgive my absent mindedness if I have. lol Have you ever checked out Permies? It's a permaculture group that just has tons of info on everything. Paul Wheaton, the creator of Permies, actually has a kickstarter www.kickstarter.com/projects/paulwheaton/better-world-book?ref=c7y and going for his book on permaculture, global issues, saving/making money on a homestead, rocket mass heaters, rocket ovens(which I really want to make) natural swimming pools, making your own tools, Just tons of practical ideas. And even when backing the book for a few dollars you get so much extra stuff. I knew he was writing this and was so happy when it started. I think it has stuff anyone can do. I know none of us has that much money to spare but I think this is worth it. Hope this helps someone.

Good Morning. I'm a newbie on your channel and I absolutely love your channel. Your videos have inspired me to move forward again and reclaim my garden space in our yard. It's not big by no means, but i'm gonna do what I can with what I have to work with. Thank you. Also, as hard as it is too lose a fur baby as you did with your kitties, know that you gave them a loving home, a life of being able to roam freely and knowing they were loved. Seniors are always passed up for adoption, but they can love just as much as the littles can. You gave them a chance at living their final years in bliss and feeling loved. Thank you. My love to y'all.

Which variety of strawberry did you plant? I have Eversweet and Festival. I will plant Benecia, too, next year.

I’m afraid we’re going to be gardening in the rain and heat in southern Arkansas almost every day until the 16th. That rain made a mess in my garden. How many strawberries plants can you put in the kiddie pool? How funny I prune and tend every day too! It’s too hot to spend an entire day catching up. Will herbs be good in the green stack? Thanks for sharing your world. 💚💚💚

Have you thought of growing wheat or a type of grain for that field? Or would it not be easy and take a lot of work?

The Rusted Garden You Tube site has some good ideas on bug control but I watched how iron phosphate is great for killing slugs and snails.......I found one slug on my porch that was five inches long, I sprinkled salt on it and he dissolved ......to a puddle of slime.😖
