Here are a few things that weren't mentioned for Triforce Heroes during the video: Each 3DS has it's own save data when using Download Play. Everything you do is saved independently of the other players and the Green Link's game. The console will remember every level you have completed (and unlocked), what materials you have, your rupees, even the costumes you have unlocked. Though, for the last one, other than the main tunic, you can only ever craft 2 of those. I learned it the hard way (I recommend the Big Bomb Outfit and the Sword Suit). The cartridge remembers what players you have played with locally and on download play (maybe even non-randos online, not sure for that one). Each time you play with someone new, a specific NPC in town will give you a material that can only be obtained that way consistently (maximum of 15). 2 tunics required it, the Timeless Tunic required 3 and the Tri Suit required 5 (consumed when obtaining them). Arena mode, you had to have the cartridge to play there, no Download Play. Every Link for themselves on 8 arenas themed after the 8 regions of the story mode with various items on the field. This was so much fun. You could also play online, though finding lobbies in this game always was a pain (and now online's dead). There was even a "beginner mode" and an "expert mode" to act as a skill filter. Funnily enough, if you obtained one specific tunic in the game (Sword Master Suit), you were forever banned from the "beginner mode", even if you never played in it before. YOU *CAN* PLAY WITH *2* PLAYERS IN THIS GAME IN THE ARENA. This game was Miiverse compatible (R.I.P. Miiverse, we miss you). There was an entire building dedicated to it. When you went there for the first time after doing certain actions, you'd obtain a camera. You could then take a screenshot at any time by pressing X during your adventure. The screenshot would be saved and you could use them from that building. 1 screenshot per level-try, taking one other would delete the previous one. Obtaining costumes also gave stamps you could use in your Miiverse posts. When you played online, you had to choose the region you wanted to play in before you joined the lobby. The team was only allowed to go in that region afterwards, but it could do absolutely everything there. If you wanted to go elsewhere, you had to leave the lobby and find another one (except if you were with friends). During Local and Download Play, it was all by vote. Region, Level, Challenge (challenge was only pickable for those who had finished the 4th level of the region, but those who didn't could still go depending of the other players' choices). You could choose "Any" and it would randomly change to one of the answers the other players chose for all 3 choices.
@HelpTheWretched24 күн бұрын
Ah, a fellow TFH expert! There's just one minor correction: You only have to choose the region before making the lobby if you've selected random players. If you play with friends, you get to pick a region every round, even if you're playing online.

One of my favorite things about Triforce Heroes is just the fact that you could play with anyone online and work together to achieve a goal. It was so cool to run around and solve things with other players with a fantastic communication system, and even when people were trolling or being difficult, it was still pretty funny. Nintendo: is this not what you wanted ?!
@ragnarokaeon824223 күн бұрын
The biggest reason for that was usually the barrier to entry. Like, who puts a ton of effort to create a remastered version of a game only to have it available for only 3 days over the life span of a console? The decision to shuttle gba-transfer cables was also pretty killer in snuffing out sales. With Tri, most people would experience hellish single player or 3 player with randos creating a negative feedback loop that made convincing other people to join you, and even if you managed to convince a *second* player, it was either 3 or nothing. Nintendo really gimped multiplayer Zelda games by shuttling their gimmicks and implementing unreasonable restrictions.
@aspendespain460618 күн бұрын
that's because they make multiplayer the gimick, rather than just an addition. they make the gameplay revolve around having 4 players, and so they just make basic plot and gameplay. (at least for a zelda title) with single player zelda games, they make these great narratives and fantastic worlds and awesome dungeons and puzzles. and people wanna do that with their friends. they don't want the short, small gimicks of the multiplayer ones, they want the big adventure but with friends. and more than anything else, they want it to be optional to play multiplayer but not have it be detrimental to do single player, cause playing a zelda multiplayer game without friends makes it harder in my opinion. it's a mix of things that make people not like the multiplayer games but want multiplayer in the other games enough to mod it in. what they need to do is make a normal zelda game but with optional multiplayer, they just can't make it detrimental to NOT have more people. could certainly be challenging but we've seen plenty of other games do it before so it's definitely possible.

I'm so sad Tri Force Heroes didn't do well, I had SO much fun with that game. The costumes were so much fun.

There's actually mods for the 2 DS Zelda games that give you proper D-pad controls. Whether or not they work in multiplayer, idk, but it feels so much better

Four Swords Anniversary Edition was my very first Zelda game, it continues to be one of my favorites. I only played it single player and had so much fun

It’s news to me hearing FSA sold under a million copies. It was the basis for my favourite Zelda Newgrounds series.

One thing people don't know about TFH is that the music in the game is actually incredible. You know what, scratch that, the whole game was actually really good. Even the Online functionality was good. It's just that nobody wanted to play games online on 3ds except for monster hunter 4 ultimate.

My first Zelda game was Four Swords Anniversary Edition, and while I knew nothing of Zelda at the time, the game was really great for me to play solo or with my brother. Back then, we never beat Heros' Trial 3, but I managed back in 2022 by myself, iirc. Yes, this technically took me 11 years, and I love that

The more people talk about my favorite Zelda, the better to be honest! Also, fun fact about Four Swords Adventures, you can trigger the "GBASP" camera on screen for one player when playing multiplayer! The way to do it is that every playable Link, but one, have to be at the screen's edge/zone advance, and that pop-up a Screen for the last Link that is still in a GBScreen for them! But it pretty much acts a pressure tool for the last guy stalling or lost so everyone can see where or what he's up to lmao

Saw someone else mention a game along the lines of Echoes of Wisdom where you play as Link and Zelda in co-op. I think that'd be awesome. Maybe they could both get different tris, representing courage and wisdom. Link's could have its energy work as his magic meter, while Zelda's would act like Tri does in their debut game, but maybe letting her echo live enemies so she's not completely helpless at the beginning of a stage. I'd imagine the two tris would kinda mimic the symbols of Farore and Nayru? They could also help contextualize the single player mode, maybe both sharing a single tri themed around power, having a higher cap of energy but sharing it between the two players, and losing the benefit of echoing live enemies.

4 swords with 5 GameCubes is the purest way to play the game. Fun fact: you would only need 1 gameboy player disc (the expensive part) since after the initial load it runs completely in memory. Saved you like $500 on discs right there

For anybody curious about the tetra trackers bit there is an active fan translation people are working on. It's a bit basic and doesn't cover everything but it's worth checking out if you want to give that a go

Regarding Navi Trackers: The game allowed players to put in their names before playing, and Tetra would actually say their names synthesized as voice lines that Tetra would say during the game. In Japanese, a system like that makes sense, as its pronunciation rules are a constant, but in English, it wouldn't work at all. Early builds of it in English reportedly had more crude-sounding alternative solutions (ex. callin a player "Mrs. A"), but it's assumed that nothing came together and that it led to its omission in the Western versions.

What was mindblowing is that all of Tri Force Heroes is fully playable through download play, and even saves data to the system so that you can continue where you left off next time you play.

I played Tri force heroes last year. I did most of the game with the creepy dolls, but I was somehow able to play a couple stages online, with probably the only other two people, playing tri force heroes in 2023, and it was actually somewhat manageable and pretty magical ✨
