I bought a broken sega nomad online for $250 on the gamble we can fix it.
We will be using a typical LCD screen display and a 3d printer to perform this repair.

The Nomad ran 4 years, 1995-99. I didn't see this back then at the time. But I had NES, the N64, didn't have a Super Nintendo & the Sega Genesis not until later in life. Already had a Nintendo Game Boy, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance. The Sega Genesis Nomad plays all 500+ Sega Genesis games. The Nomad was the last handheld console released by Sega. Released late in the Genesis era, it had a short lifespan.

Dude!!!!!!!! I sooooooo wanted this as a kid! It was expensive AF! But I had an SNES, never had a Genesis and parents, you know... is it worth it? lol. Already had a Game Gear and Gameboy. I also wanted that Turbo Express... we had so much choice back then, man! The mid 90's were awesome!

I remember when this came out and i knew my mcDonalds paycheck could never obtain one. Man you are lucky with all your devices! I had to trade my NES and games for a SNES and I never got a handheld until recently. You're right though, 90s was a great time for console gaming!

I have a nomad that is still stock running 90s internals and I don't have any plans to upgrade the screen since I'm so used to its look. I don't understand why people hate on it when the gameboy color and especially the dmg look far worse but i do have to say it does look really nice with the new screen you installed nice job

The nomad was definitely ahead of it's time given the circumstances. Id also keep it stock if everything is still working correctly. Thanks for taking the time out to comment, it helps everyone!

Great video. Wish I could afford a Nomad. Over here in the UK they are as rare as hens teeth. They cost around £500 to.

@@retro-af With the price of Retro Games and consoles continuing to climb I bet it probs would sell at that price. Atari Lynx for instance used to be worthless but even faulty sell for around £80-100 now.

Man those prices for these vintage consoles are absolutely insane. I remember I bought a couple of brand new Atari Lynx consoles around 2010 for like £100 or so each. Brand new. The same with the games for the system, they were so much more affordable. I remember I had a pretty nice collection. Unfortunately as money was tight a few years later, I had to sell most of my games and consoles. Sometimes I have the urge to build up a little collection again, but every time I look at the prices I just get angry. This is not a hobby for the average person anymore, which is really sad.

Yeah, and its getting worse. There were only a million units sold, so its only a matter of time before they are all scarfed up! Thanks for taking time out of your day to comment!

The nomad is different it's more of an antique then a game system since it was only available in a limited region and only having around 1 million units which by now have dwindled drastically I would expect it to have an expensive entry price to own such a unique piece of sega history

I got my Nomad with charger cord and rechargeable battery pack for $60 in like 2010. Crazy how much it's shot up

I get that for sure. My idea for collecting due to the prices has been to get every game in my favorite series and then just use modded consoles/flashcarts for the rest. Unless a game is really cheap enough on ebay and I actually care about having it on the shelf.

I have an original still running great. I have the original battery pack and the original rechargeable battery pack. I just replaced the internals of the rechargeable pack and now have new rechargeable batteries and board installed with an LED light. Take 3.5 hours to charge & gives 7 hours of play time.
