This is one of those movies that would come on at 10-11pm on HBO, and there would be nothing else on so you’d let it play, and then proceed to watch the entiiiiiire thing. Such a freaking fun thriller, like an airport novel.
@robjackson5245Ай бұрын
Both HBO and Cinemax. I think my dad did see this one. I don't know what he had against Cinemax cause Cinemax still stomped HBO ratings-wise and had superior graphics. Plus it didn't have that fucking creepy asshole V/O for the MPAA ratings bumpers like HBO did. UPN also stomped The WB in the ratings 11 years

Only edge HBO has is sports. And even then boxing is not indigenous to the network either. On original series/movies, Cinemax and HBO are on par with each other.

Has Prime watched "John Q" from (2002) with Denzel? If you like "The Negotiator" you'll like "John Q" I guarantee it.
@jacob49202 жыл бұрын
I'm not one who is terribly into crime drama's, myself. But "The Negotiator" is on a different type of level! I went into watching this movie because my friends were (and there was going to be good food along with it). I had no idea about this movie, but I assumed I would be bored by it, because like I said, I'm not into these types of movies. But after watching this, I hurried up and bought a DVD (and 20 years later, I bought the digital off of i-Tunes, because the original DVD was caput). This movie also represents the first film that I truly started taking Samuel L Jackson seriously, as an actor. Jackson puts so much emotion, and so much chutzphah, into his acting, that everything he does winds up being superb. This movie is one of SLJ's better ones, and hardly anyone has ever seen it! That's got to be some type of a crime!

This has always been one of my favorite movies. I don't really care about the controversy of certain actors and stuff like that. I enjoy the movie not the personal lives of the actors. I'm sure I'd dislike most movies if I got bent out of shape by everything every actor did in the private lives.

@@redmoonbloodmoon3161 Yeah, we didn't know about that stuff when this came out. I was watching it for years before any of that stuff came out. But I can still go back and enjoy these movies and not have them ruined because of what one of the actors did. I may not support another project by that person but what's done is done.
@novembercherry42 жыл бұрын
I totally agree there.
@coeusdarksoul28552 жыл бұрын
I mean, I *do* care about the controversy, mostly because of how it affects the victims, and it determines whether or not I watch projects of theirs moving forward sometimes, but by the same token: separating the art from the artist is fairly important. That said: Especially with movies that came out previously, I really have a hard time holding a film against someone, even if they do heinous things. I really do my damndest but if I really enjoy a movie my brain is like "the movie is already done, and it is more than just one person." and I'm not really entirely proud of it =\

Definitely one of the most underrated cop thrillers of the 90s. If you want other great ones from the decade to watch after this I recommend: - The Fugitive (1993). Harrison Ford plays a doctor who is framed for his wife’s murder and escapes jail to figure out why his wife was killed. There’s a very famous scene where Ford is being chased through a hydropower dam and has to decide whether to jump off to avoid Tommy Lee Jones’ character - LA Confidential (1997). It’s about a group of Los Angeles detectives in the 1950s that are trying to investigate a coverup for a robbery gone wrong with links to corrupt members of their department
@jacob49202 жыл бұрын
I'd have to go back and look, but I feel like "The Fugitive" has already been watched on this channel (unless I'm thinking about some other reviewer's content). But you're right. "The Fugitive" is a unicorn, among crime movies, which is a genre I generally not only don't get terribly into, but also tend to outright avoid. Most crime dramas end up boring me. But not these two.

This movie is SO good and I don't know why people don't talk about it more. So glad you reacted to this one. There is another crime/thriller that Samuel L. Jackson is in, that is also not really talked about, Twisted (2004). It is more a psychological thriller, but worth a watch.

Oh wow bro I totally forgot about this movie! I haven't seen this one in years! Thanks for reacting and reminding me of this awesome movie. There was a time when Kevin Spacey was in my top 3 or 5 favorite actors and I saw this movie back around then in the mid 00's. Was really disappointing when the news came out about that guy. But I still appreciate his body of work, because there are too many good movies to ignore in which a ton of other talented non-horrific people worked really hard to tell a story and create some art. EDIT: WOW! Last time I saw this was before Breaking Bad had came out, so I had no idea Hank was in this! Dope!

Ever watch "The Life of David Gale"? Unbelievable.

@@nattyboh2944 Oh wow, yes! I forgot about that movie! I actually saw that one in theaters! I remember thinking it was boring at the time but after rewatching it back a few years ago I appreciated it more. Swimming with Sharks is another one I loved. I didn't watch his movies for a good while after that horrible stuff came out, but you're right, there's just too much quality stuff that doesn't deserve to be erased from history over his bad choices.
@nattyboh29442 жыл бұрын
@@henryviper9091 It's definitely a slower paced film, so I can absolutely understand feeling that way if you watched it first when you were a little younger. I haven't seen the one you mentioned though - I'm making a mental note of it now so I can check it out at some point, thanks for the recommendation! It's all true though...even now, I can't think of him at all without immediately thinking of the horrible things he did and said, which is just...sad, isn't it? Ultimately, it's foul and sad. What a shame. I can't always manage separation, but sometimes I can. Perhaps it's because I grew up with him being (like you said) easily in my top 5 actors. I don't know. The world is just a bit messed up, isn't it?

there is an unreleased alternate ending where Chris helps Danny in a more public way (it’s in the last 3 seconds of the trailer), but was cut and rewritten. I reminder working in a theatre at age 15 and seeing that trailer a hundred times and then the movie doesn’t include the biggest “oh shit” moment. Rewatching this vicariously through your reaction, I realized this would have been much better if the movie hadn’t shown us that Danny didn’t kill Nate. They should have had Nate’s death completely shrouded in mystery; that may have made it a little more possible to fool us that he killed Scott after that first breach. When you know he’s innocent, you can’t possibly think he actually murdered a Cop. It’s a massive missed opportunity in my opinion, but otherwise a very fun movie.

Maggie was no bitch, she only told them where he was because she didn’t know who to trust(even though she could trust Markus and Scott) and because she was threatened to be charged with obstruction, even though Hellman, Allen, and Argento are the dirty cops implicated, there was still one more(later revealed to be Commander Frost and Nate’s Killer), a member of the fund’s board and the ringleader since Danny and Rudy had already figured out that the 3 implicated couldn’t have stolen the $2 Million themselves because they didn’t have access to the fund, so how they did so was they submitted false claims to the fund that got processed by a member of the board who was in on the Fraud. Of course, Danny himself is a board member so that was part of how it was so easy to set him up. Obviously in the end, Frost, Hellman, Allen, and Argento all got what they deserved.
