DUDE FIRST OFF THIS VLOG IS SICK! You RIPPED that solo on "Three Lives Left" with your own spin and it was epic! I agree it's one of those things that is more about feeling in in the moment and not overthinking, but what you did really brought it all together. Thank you for being apart of this DPGN set for the portion of the big anniversary concert, I really appreciate you pouring time into this, and we'll definitely have ya back again soon!

You’re the guy who killed it on the EWI at PAX! That solo gave me goosebumps! It’s a bit surprising to me that it was as nerve-wracking to you as you explain it to be, because it felt so natural while listening to it live. But hearing you talk about your own personal playing style and what you needed to do for this show in particular, really put into perspective how much thought artists give into their craft. Honestly, it’s incredibly inspiring to see. Thank you for the great vlog! I hope you continue to make wonderful strides from here on out!

That was an amazing night! I admit I came to see Carlos at first and when he came out with the Videri String Quartet that was amazing, but then when he came out for his own set, it took a couple of camera zooms to realise Charlie was also there! And I didn't believe myself when I saw you playing with Dom Palombi's band during the first song! "Wait no, there's no way. That looks way too much like...!" Not only I get to see 3 people I only saw online in an actual concert, but I get to hear awesome songs for 3, almost 4 hours straight from so many talented artists! Thank you so much for making it an even better PAX than it already was! And it was awesome getting to meet you after (Gabriel here :D), I really hope we'll get to hear more video game music from you and the band (and hopefully I get to see it in person again!)

Frankie I'm -so- excited to see you having fun out on these gigs. Thanks for taking us along. You inspired me to grab an EWI Solo, and it's been amazing to rediscover how much I love playing music. Something that I find a bit difficult though is motivating myself to practice consistently. The swing dancing scene in Vancouver is gathering steam and I've been doing that as a hobby for the past 8 years, so I'm hoping to be good enough to jam during an event. I'd love to hear about what the "minimum" it would take to play with a group, like some standards to know and which keys to be able to solo over.

These vlogs are so rad! If I'm allowed to make a request - I'd love seeing the sheet music you're playing, if that's possible. I know, if it's an arrangement of a technically copyrighted tune, that may not be an option. But when it is an option, I'd sure love to see it! Starts there but mid way feels like you hit god mode and started to go super saiyan! And crescendos with a final blow! Dude you nailed the feeling and this was sick. Mistakes might have been made but in a boss rush it's hardly ever perfect. (Also side note, when it comes to solo's, people can only guess where you're going, no one knows or is able tell most of the time. The only one who's guaranteed to know is you.) A musician's journey never ends but you made huge strides with the risks you took with this solo, and I wouldn't have it any other way! Great Job! You’re very hard on yourself! The only one hearing the mistakes are you, and you playing a few wrong notes here and there, does not matter to the audience. Especially not when it’s during high energy music. It makes it feel real, it makes you remember that night better, and it doesn’t take away from the live experience. If you didn’t point out your mistakes, I’d never notice them. You’re human, and you actually create music out of the air from your body. That’s incredible to me, and that’s why I like watching you. I wouldn’t enjoy it as much if you were a robot, as I enjoy hearing the personality of the humans behind the music. That solo was fucking crazy, and you should be proud of it! You stepped out of your comfort zone and killed it. I’d be making the stankiest face if I were in that room, and I enjoyed it a lot. The advice from your friend was also pure gold, and it sounded like you listened to him!

This is one of those solos that if you detached it from yourself and heard it coming from someone else, you'd instantly appreciate it. You get the stank face seal of approval, man. To your point about not being a chops player, I actually prefer that you aren't. That's what draws me to your style of playing, actually. Not to knock on any players who perform like that (I mean just look at Chad LB - the man is a legend), but sometimes my ears just want a break from all the notes. Working within your limitations always creates interesting results, like this solo. Don't be ashamed of it. You're killing it either way.

Thank you for the insecurities. It helps all of us. If music videos are edited to perfection it results in a similar problem to airbrushed photographs in that it presents a standard that nobody can reasonably attain. This being said I pick up a sense of heavy self-criticism regarding mistakes and the solo that may not be entirely justified. I hope you can balance this out with enjoying being in the moment. The video leads me to believe this is the case and I hope it is an equilibrium you maintain.
