The Nets Might Be Too Late On Extending Cam Thomas

The Brooklyn Nets have plenty of matters to address this offseason as they look to make some moves to hopefully make it back to the playoffs again. One of the interesting developments for Brooklyn that may be addressed this offseason involves one of their better players being eligible for an extension this summer.
Nets guard Cam Thomas is one of four players on the roster that are eligible for extensions this offseason and Thomas could be the most impactful for Brooklyn given where he stands at this moment. Thomas, 22, was the Nets’ best offensive weapon this past season, leading the team with an average of 22.5 points per game.

Idc I agree with Rage. Also, he improved with his passing and defense so he's not just a shooter. Even if he was, the teams with the best defense still need to score eventually. That's always gonna be an asset. A lot of vets respect his game and we drafted him. We should do what we can to keep him.

I don’t wanna lose CT!!!! I know some of this fan base doesn’t like him but let’s see what he does this season when he has the ultimate green light. Personally I’d pay him but it is what it is. CT could drop 30-6-6 and half of this fan base would still complain about him…it’ll either be his defense or that he’s on a tanking team dropping 30-6-6 😂 👀

@AJ Under no circumstances the Nets should give Cam Thomas a contract extension before the end of next season or even then if he show that he isn't worthy of it. I think it's too early to start labeling him the "face of the franchise." That label have to be earned and next season is as good of a time as any to start. We all know that CT is a prolific scorer. It's the other parts of his game like facilitating and defending that's questionable. He'll be playing for defensive minded head coach Jordi Fernandez next season. Lets take note of how he respond to how Jordi want him to play. I, personally, don't think CT will ever be the facilitator and defender that the Nets want him to be and additional to the scoring. Lets pump the brakes on a contract extension and take a wait and see attitude next season.

I am a big CT fan but Quickly’s feel for the game is much more developed than Cam’s. Quickly can run an offense for a playoff team. If you pay him now you should match IQ’s deal

Cam Thomas is a Restricted Free Agent at the end of the Season and the Nets still have full control. Cam has a $13m Cap Hold so anything more than that the Nets are throwing away Cap Space. Sixers just did the same thing with Maxey this Offseason because only an idiot burns Cap Space for no reason.
